http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/world_news_america/8457403.stm

There are ten questions; see how you do (no fair looking up the answers!)

I only got 6 of them.

1. I got the first 5 right and then it froze
on "Sweetie"..and it wouldn't go on to "next"!

Darn, I was doing so well, too..I tried twice..it's frustrating.

2. Drag and drop
Hi Cha,

have you tried dragging one of the three options onto the 'blank' field?
That worked for me.
BTW, I got 8/10 :bounce: , so apparently there is still a little
room for improving my gropiedom.

20. And here I thought people in the U.S.
did not use those British 'ou's. :dunce:

No, it's just a typo, though my neologism makes strange sense concerning
some kinds of groupies. Hopefully less so for Obama groupies. Thanks for
pointing out the typo, although it's too late to fix it.

3. I got 7 out of 10!
The one about the date was a trick. I thought they were asking about their first date
while he was President! :(

4. I got 6 too
But I missed the Nobel Prize one because I thought FDR had gotten one for ending WWII. And he always talks about going to a community meeting and having ice cream on the way home, so I thought that was their first date.

17. Well, yes ...

... but then that sorta meets the definition of an American President at any point in our history.

Roosevelt was recognized for the part he played in having the International Court of Arbitration at The Hague actually used as an arbitrator between nations. It had been in existence for a few years prior to his presidency but had never actually heard a case. The first, if I recall correctly, involved a dispute between the US and Mexico concerning California. Many major powers in he world at the time followed the lead of the US after this and met at The Hague in an attempt to have disputes more objectively decided.

One could argue whether The Hague actually resolved anything, but in the context of the time, it seemed promising.

14. 10/10 but the last question is wrong....
Edited on Thu Feb-11-10 11:41 PM by Clio the Leo
.... the answer they're looking for is "movie" but they did both movie and ice cream.

How could anyone forget...

Their first date included a day at the Art Institute of Chicago, a drink at the top of the John Hancock Center, and a movie -- Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing."

"He swept me off my feet," said Michelle Obama, recalling how her date made her laugh and intrigued her with his "deep understanding" of art.

Sitting on a curb, they shared their first kiss over Baskin-Robbins ice cream.

"I asked her if I could kiss her," Obama wrote. I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate.
