Outrage in 3, 2, 1... Hmmm, about the fact that pre-existing exemption only covers children.

Maybe the 15th Amendment was a mistake. Why give African Americans the right to vote and leave out women?

The 19th Amendment came along later to do that.

I suppose we could have waited.

3. A word about high-risk pool/children/pre-existing conditions

I've been thinking this over, because there's a lot of confusion on it. Here's my conclusion, what do you think:

Adults with pre-existing conditions go into the high-risk pool;

Children with pre-existing conditions cannot be denied coverage by insurance companies, so no need to create a high-risk pool for them;

Adults with pre-existing conditions do not have to wait until 2014 for coverage, because they can go into the high-risk pool;

The language in the bill above does not say "Provide immediate access to insurance for uninsured *children* who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition through a temporary high-risk pool" it says "uninsured Americans."

The risk pool is created for uninsured adults with pre-existing conditions; the children are taken care of by not being denied coverage because they have a pre-existing condition.
