Hypothetical: An asteroid is discovered that will strike the earth in 2057
What's the over under on a thread being started on DU blaming Obama and shrieking that he wasn't doing anything?

I say five minutes after the discovery is announced.

2. Chappelle did a bit on that
So how many years ago was that? I just saw the repeat last week or so, couldn't find the youtube. It was really quite surprising to learn that this is something a number of black people knew all along. No matter what happens, it would be the black president's fault.

16. I'm pretty convinced it'd be mostly the same if it were Kerry or Edwards.
Fact is, these folks largely aren't Democrats in the first place. I think the intensity of the comments is the only part that changes due to Obama's race. DU is infested with greens, socialists, and freepers.

3. As long as it takes to link the asteroid to a corporation. One minute flat
for :tinfoilhat: to appear.

4. You think it'd take 5 minutes?

I'm thinking the first posts would show up before the person reading the announcement was done, something along the lines of "Oh great, another thing Obama's going to screw up."

7. With a multitude of insightful one line wonders, such as.....
Edited on Sat May-22-10 04:46 PM by FrenchieCat
"There's your change"......

"Well, what did you expect?..."

Plus the brand new stolen from the French because it makes it witty..."Quelle Surprise!"

In other words, none bothers reading the actual article and asking themselves germaine questions,
if whatever the storyline is goes against this administration. Kind of a lot like what the other side does to our side, except by folks who claim erroneously to be better informed, when all they are doing is reading headlines and reacting predictably exactly as the MSM headline writer intended; allowing to be led by the nose to the place that they were already willing to go, without context or due diligence. The problem is our side is supposed to be fighting for the truth; not a twisted version thereof in order to satisfy their discontent in some other possible justified area, i.e.,
intellectual dishonesty at it's lazy payback best.

8. The French thing ...

Why and when did that start? It's showing up quite a bit.

For some reason I find that more obnoxious than the average banalities that show up around here, like a thousand nails on a thousand chalkboards.

You are right, it is banal, and not much more.

13. I actually thought of using this in an argument...
But using Morgan Freeman's character in Deep Impact to symbolize what I meant. My thought was that the BP issue was something that we really haven't dealt with and it isn't like any other typical disaster where it occurs and then you move on to the cleanup. This is on going. Similar to the situation faced in that movie. We've never dealt with an asteroid before. How the fuck does a president deal with that? There is no right answer because we don't know the answer.

So did Morgan Freeman's character handle it well? Well according to DU, probably not. I mean, people died. A lot of people. Cities were ruined. A lot of 'em. The world was changed...a lot. But again, how the hell is the president supposed to deal with that?

Likewise, this spill is not like anything we've seen before. It isn't like a tanker leaking, where the damage is done initially and the cleanup begins. This is on going and even the best scientists don't really know how to stop it.

I guess Obama could nuke the Gulf. But what if that failed? What if that opened up more holes or devastated the habitat even more?

Basically, this is all a crapshoot.

Discovery is unnecessary.
