Good news for Hawai'i and the whole country!
:bounce:B-):patriot::patriot:

"Former congressman Ed Case said today that he will withdraw from the Democratic primary for Congress, explaining that too much is at stake to divide the party as it attempts to win back urban Honolulu's 1st Congressional District from U.S. Rep. Charles Djou, (R-Hawaii)."

Case made the announcement during his remarks at the state Democratic convention at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. State Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, his main rival in the primary, joined him on stage and presented Case with a lei.

Case, a moderate often at odds with the party's establishment, told delegates that he is proud to be a Democrat. He received an extended standing ovation from delegates.

Case said afterward that he made his decision over the past few days after his third-place finish in the special election behind Hanabusa and Djou.

"I thought it was the right thing to do, at the right time, for the right reasons," he said. "That's really what it came down to.

U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, (D-Hawaii), who had endorsed Hanabusa and resisted
pressure from national Democrats to abandon her in favor of Case, who many
in Washington believed was more electable, told delegates that he was deeply
moved by Case's gesture."

10. Yes, it's great news! And where is Kaua'i?
Are you moving there permanently? We've been sorta checking out property in Hawaii but we don't know enough about it yet. There seem to be lots of things to take into consideration, like lava zones and tsunami insurance.

11. Kaua'i is the Northern most Island/aka the Garden Island..
I'm retiring to Kaua'i..and it's a very happy move. My son has lived there since 1985 and I lived there from 1992 to 1998. My 12 years in New York have been extremely educational but it's time to go be a beachcomerB-)

I would think it would depend on which Island you're going to and where you live as far as those kinds of insurance. People who live more inland aren't susceptible to tsunamis, afaik. Lava zones are on the Big Island/aka/Hawai'i. That's pretty exciting that you're interested in living there..so you've visited?

12. Nope, we've never been there.
We're the kind of folks who have very little ready cash for vacations and stuff. But that means we have money tied up in investments that have thankfully done well and someday soon we'll be buying property somewhere warm. I like winter through the holidays but after that it's a real pain.

At the moment we're carefully watching the real estate market in places we're considering and will have to take a trip to each of the locations when the market dictates.

But hey, now I have another place to research! Thanks, Cha!

the Sand. But, I've lived all over in my years that have built up to retirement..born and raised in Colorado..then Phoenix, San Diego, Asheville, NC, Gainesville,FL..and now New York so I now know where I wanna be for the rest of my lifeB-)

Good on you saving for retirement smartly, Devon. Hawai'i is a very healthy place for me and that's what it's all about now.

14. Heh. I went from

Texas to Mississippi to California, to New York, and then eventually to Colorado. And a few places in between.

I love a healthy lifestyle and good weather to keep it up. That's why I can take a real winter for a few months but no more than that. I swear that by mid January I'm ready to scream when I even think about going round and round and round the track at the gym even one more time.

Not to mention that the people on the track with me who don't follow the rules drive me absolutely insane. I mean, how hard is it to read the rules and then follow them? But no. Invariably there are people walking in groups, chit chatting away like it's gossip hour or something. Or the people who bring their 2 year olds with them who run around like crazy or, even worse, come to a dead stop right in front of you so that you have to almost jump over them to avoid knocking them down.

Or, this one lady who mosies around the center lane while reading an effing paperback, oblivious to the world and to the traffic jams she creates when people have to decide whether to pass her on the right or the left.

See why I need Hawaii? Either that or a valium, in which case I couldn't go round and round and round the frickin' track anyway.

On edit, unfortunately for me, it's absolutely necessary for me to stay as fit as I can because of health issues. So it's not just that I prefer to exercise regularly. It's that I have to. And I'm one of those people who has to keep it up because if I get out of the habit I might not start up again.

15. I'm in the same boat..the one that requires
high maintenance in the exercise and eating right department. I don't actually like going out and running the hill(just got back) but I love how I feel afterwards and I always see an improvement in the health column. I don't actually like not being able to eat some of the fun foods I use to but fortunately there's plenty of healthy food left and my health is worth it.

You do need Hawai'i..there's a lot of good energy coming off the Ocean when we go for walks or runs on the beach, the Island air is good for our lungs, the food growing on the Island is perfect for our bodies, and the spirit is uplifted by being where we want to be.B-)

I forgot Texas! But, that was between Colorado and Colorado when I was younger..Houston was a lot different then..I still remember my address that is now a freeway. Never lived in Mississippi, though..that must have been a little different? So you live in Colorado? I moved back there in 1990 to 1992 to be near my Mom for awhile before I took off for Kaua'i..glad I did that.
