A fitting quote from the movie Ratatouille
Edited on Sun Jun-13-10 09:39 AM by NJmaverick
In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations, the new needs friends.

3. Aw man
That part of the movie gave me chills and I thought it was one of the most poignant scenes I'd seen in a while. And you're right, it is so absolutely perfectly appropriate now.

Lovely find.

4. All the critic has to do is sit back
and give his or her personal opinion on why something isn't good..or they can say they like it.

When I'm considering movies I take their opinions with a few grains of salt and decide for myself.

If only so many critics weren't too arognant to take the following to heart.

".. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."
