lol, Keith Olbermann said we have accepted help from other countries
Therefore we have; and anybody who ever said different was a right wing conservanazi.

This is a laugh or I'll go insane moment.

4. Wow. Okay then.
It's been one of the chief complaints, day after day after day. Why aren't we accepting help from other countries. You didn't see those posts?

8. I don't really go into
GD..I have a lot of people on ignore because they are uninformed willfullly and otherwise. And, no I didn't see it in GDP.

I did see an OP yesterday saying that he had seen it a lot so I googled and found this link for him where we had asked and accepted help from 17 Countries.

WASHINGTON DC, United States—"With workers locked in a race against time to stem the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the US government said Monday it has received aid offers from 17 countries and four international bodies so far."

http://globalnation.inquirer.net/news/breakingnews/view/20100615-275709/US-taps-into-foreign-assistance-for-Gulf-oil-spill

So now that KO's said it must be so because it would be too much trouble to google.:)

11. Back in May State Dept addressed it
Gibbs has answered the question a few times. When help is needed, we'll use it. And they have.

I guess you're lucky you didn't see the daily whine about not using all the help from other countries. It was nauseating.

13. I can imagine..
I've tried to take most of that out of my time on DU.

Course more keeps popping up in the neverending battle against ignorance.

3. "lol "as in, you don't believe him?

As noted, I think the only one saying we didn't was Sarah "Rightwing Conservanazi Palin."

5. It's been a complaint for weeks
And for weeks the rebuttal has been posted, and that help from other countries would be accepted when it was needed. Now it has been.

But now it didn't happen.

Well okay then.

7. Clarification
Media Matters

Thad Allen press briefing June 10:

Q: There are many people who say that the best dredgers and skimmers in the world come from countries like the Netherlands and France and that they can't -- they're not being asked to come in because of the Jones Act. Is that the case? And why not get around that, suspend that, so you can bring that other you know technology in?

ADMIRAL ALLEN: Well, first of all, those are source countries. That's correct, they're available. But we are using them. We are dealing with folks like Norway, the Netherlands, Canada and other places. Anyplace that's got skimming capability that's available, we're willing to talk to them, and we actually have, in some cases, actually transferred the equipment down and will continue to do that.

If it gets -- if it gets to the point where there's a Jones Act required, we're willing to do that, too. Nobody's come to me with a request for a Jones Act waiver, but any skimming capability we can bring in, we're looking for.

Q: So are the actual boats being brought in or just the equipment?

ADMIRAL ALLEN: Well, in some cases it's the skimmer itself. In some cases, the skimming equipment is organic to the vessel itself. It depends on what you're talking about. To my knowledge, what we brought in is actually skimming equipment rather than the vessels themselves, but we can give you a detailed listing.

Robert Gibbs Press briefing also June 10:

Q Senator Bill Nelson is going to write a letter to the President today asking for some clarification on the Jones Act and whether or not it is in any way inhibiting the U.S. government's use of offers from other foreign nations and foreign-flagged vessels to help in any way -- mediation, skimming, any of the other operations you're doing on the Gulf. What is the administration's position on it? The Jones Act was waived during Katrina by the Bush administration to bring oil in. What's your position on this?

MR. GIBBS: I would say this --

Q Is it an impediment or are you open to waiving it if you need to?

MR. GIBBS: No, no, as Admiral Allen said today, we are using equipment and vessels from countries like Norway, Canada, the Netherlands. There has not been any problem with this. If there is the need for any type of waiver, that would obviously be granted. But this -- we've not had that problem thus far in the Gulf.

Q But you're open to waiving it if you need to?

MR. GIBBS: If there's anything that needs to happen, that will -- we will make sure that it happens.

and I hadn't read that.

There's so much disinformation floating around and a shameful waste of time.

10. I can get pressers from May
that say we'll use resources from other countries as they're needed.

This has been a daily complaint at DU, I'm surprised no one in here has seen them. Posts like yours have rebutted claims the DU claims that we aren't accepting help from other countries, but have been ignored.

But now that Keith says we're accepting help from other countries, well now it's gospel.

Oh, and nobody ever doubted that we were accepting help from other countries, not one DUer ever said a word about it.

Only Sarah Palin.

Well alrighty then.

14. Excuse me?
I have been fighting that "no help from other countries" baseless smear for over a month.

And now I'm the one that has no knowledge or facts because YOU didn't see that accusation?

Really??

17. If they were using it in violation of the Jones act
the media would be on Obama for "breaking the law." And so would many on DU. Count on that.

15. I've now officially become a target of the Angry Brigade--I said that Olbermann
should grow a thicker skin and maybe not ragequit DailyKos because some people disagreed with him.

Since I'm sure my fan club is reading this, hey, what's going on?

16. This must have really gotten lost in the reading
Edited on Fri Jun-18-10 12:20 AM by sandnsea
I was making a comment about idol worship and how funny I think it is when a piece of information can be posted on a daily basis for a month or more... and totally ignored or dismissed...

and then Keith Olbermann says it and the scales fall from the eyes and everyone can see!! That's not a comment about Keith Olbermann AT ALL.

I guess others missed it, but I have seen complaints on a daily basis about accepting help from other countries. Now that Keith has said that we are, well all is well and the issue is closed.

And nobody ever questioned it except Sarah Palin and conservanazis so don't dare say anybody at DU did.

Did that make sense?
