Obama was scheduled to do three town hall meetings in SE Wisconsin today after meeting with people at the GM plant in Janesville, WI (south of Madison). We went to the first one in Waukesha:
We waited about 45 min. outside in +10 degree weather, then after going through metal detectors got seats and waited almost another two hours. (Janesville took longer than he expected, he said, apologizing).
The mayor took a bow. He endorsed Obama a year ago already.
Doing the "O" wave!
These were some "Yes We Can" T-shirt people sitting behind us.
The building was full to capacity, even the balconies.
At 2 p.m. he was finally there!
He first gave his stump speech for about a half hour. Here he is just pulling some notes out of his pocket as he begins.
Then he took questions for another half hour on social security, healthcare, housing, and term limits/government accountability. Here he is answering the last question which was about Darfur.
Rope line! Governor Doyle is the bald man talking to the woman right above the head of the guy in front of me.
