Especially his passionate answer on the issue of the New York mosque.

He could not have been clearer on where he stands, especially when he strongly reminded the country that Muslim-Americans are our neighbors and friends, and are also in military uniform putting their lives on the line for the country everyday. I can't do his answer justice here, but what an amazing response he gave. No one could accuse him of being dispassionate on that!

Also loved his answer on the MidEast peace process, where he said he is encouraging Netanyahu and Abbas to think about how they can make each win -- not how they can make each other fail.

Just excellent.

2. I don't know why I was surprised that people acted the way that they did towards the mosque
Nothing that happens in this country should surprise me, but I was still a bit shocked. It astounds me that even in 2010 people act as though Muslims are not Americans. That the concept of religious tolerance only applies to Christians. Religious tolerance means exactly what it says.

The Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Bahai's and everything else that were killed in the Twin Towers are conveniently overlooked. Yes, there were Muslims killed there as well. So this idea that the mosque had to be moved out of "respect for the families" goes out of its way to ignore the fact that Muslim families share the burden of that day every bit as much as everyone else.

There were even quite a few here on DU saying that the mosque should be moved "out of respect for the families." Astounding.

3. I just watched the whole thing..
Wow! I'm going to have to reflect on that for awhile..It was a marathon! I guess I was more tired from getting up so early than I thought.

President Obama was brilliant..most of the reporters were acting all tough guy and when Obama started to answer their questoins ..he blew them away.

I didn't watch bush pressers but my understanding was the WH press was always smooching up to him?

I'm so glad I saw this q.a..it covered so much!

His answer about the Mosque was perfect.."It's just us."

Much better than Dean's take, imv.

5. Hello, Cha! And for some reason, that "it's just us' answer made me think of Richard Pryor.
That's a "George Carlin"-type of reference for some of us, black or white.

(If anyone's reading this and don't know wth I'm talking about, PM me.)

4. Transcript for the readers
http://obama-mamas.com/blog/?p=1904

Have to say my favorite part was calling Republicans out for their filibustering.

"Hans, I wasn’t trying to be funny. I am concerned about all Senate nominations these days. I’ve got people who have been waiting for six months to get confirmed who nobody has an official objection to and who were voted out of committee unanimously, and I can’t get a vote on them.

We’ve got judges who are pending. We’ve got people who are waiting to help us on critical issues like homeland security. And it’s very hard when you’ve got a determined minority in the Senate that insists on a 60-vote filibuster on every single person that we’re trying to confirm, even if after we break the filibuster, it turns out that they get 90 votes. They’re just playing games. And as I think Senator Voinovich said very well, it’s time to stop playing games."
