Mr Daniels was a supporter of Carter who used to write songs about national unity. It's a shame he's gone to the dark side, because we could use more unity right about now.

This isn't really a response to you. It's a response to the idea.

This is not, strictly speaking, a sign of the times. It's a sign of all the times.

Daniels' is a racist. I know this personally because I know him personally. He's not a friend. He's not someone I call up and go hand out with on weekends, but he's someone I've met several times, and he would know my name.

But it's not actually about him. I just know where he's coming from, and it's the same place people just like him are coming from.

They're racists.

The difference between Carter and Obama is not one of political ideology. Here's the truth. Carter was much more liberal than Obama is. That's fine. I still like Obama. I liked Carter. I was personally more conservative than him on economic issues. In any case, people like Charlie Daniels look at Obama, and they see one thing.

Pardon the word, but it's apt. This is what they see. Delete this post if you must. I am only expressing the truth of what others perceive. And I'm not going to put asterix in it as though that makes it better.

What Charlie Daniels and others like him see is a nigger. THAT is the difference between Carter and Obama.

I am sick, sick, sick, sick of it. We act so shocked that Obama is held to this standard to which no one else has been held, and we ask ourselves why, why, why. And we may say it quietly among ourselves, and we may think it without saying, but that doesn't do a damn bit of good.

Those people out there, those Obama haters who think we in here are idiots, they know this, but they won't admit it because they're so full up on their white privilege that they can't. It kills their liberal fantasy. Obama is well aware of the racism against him. That's part of why he is as conservative as he seems to be. (There are other reasons he "seems" to be that way, but that's another subject.)

I don't believe in the liberal fantasy anymore, not that I really ever did. Obama got elected, yeah. But we're still a racist nation, and the sleeping racists were woken up by his election. THAT is why all this idiotic bullshit leveled against him has gotten so much play on CNN. We are still a racist nation. Obama is wrong, is bad, because he's black.
