I just got through talking to her and I asked her if she voted on Tuesday (we live in Texas). She's 88 years-old and has been ill lately. She said "no" and asked if I had. I told her "yes" and I even caucused. I knew at one time she liked Hillary, so I eased into the discussion since I voted Obama. Now this is a woman who has voted Democrat all her life, but is a very religious, conservative woman. (southern baptist...need I say more?)
Anyway, as we talked, she said that she really liked Obama and that was her choice. She doesn't want McCain as president, but thinks he's a "nice" man and has respect for his service in the military. (she was a nurse in WWII so guess it's a mutual respect thing) and then we discussed Hillary. She's always liked Hillary and thought Hillary would be a good president, but is disgusted with her current behavior. She thinks Hillary is too emotional to be president. She thinks Obama would make a great president and really likes his temperament! I was shocked to tell you the truth. This has been a woman that has lived in the south all her life and still holds some of those racist views (although they may be inadvertently). I'm so excited right now and just wanted to share that.:bounce: She's very confident that Obama will get the nomination. She worries for his safety though.
