Like a lot of you, I am sick of the Obama bashing in GD-Pee (and GD, too), especially by the worst offenders who claim they are "just criticising" him. I know the difference between criticising someone and beating them to a bloody pulp, and I dare say, you all do too.

I am glad to have wondered in. All the Obama bashing and vows to not support him could land us knee deep in some kind of Mike Huckabee theocracy or something. That's my greatest fear, the religious right.

I have trouble understanding that so many otherwise aware people so easily forget how messy government is. Democracy isn't clean and precise, that's what the Chinese have; when a policy gets declared there is no dissent it simply is. Getting bills passed is messy business even with a lot of Democrats in Congress; too many diverging goals from all over the country.

Short memories and lack of patience is what I see among some Democrats. The good thing is that most people in the country don't even pay that much attention to every detail like many of us.

I just read about it in GD-P I'm never very busy at DU outside of a couple of groups, but I find the anti-Obama sentiment that's around sentiment frightening. President Obama exactly what I thought he'd be, in the system we have in place. I'm neither surprised or disappointed, and I remain hopeful.

I have a son in Iraq. After he comes home, he'll go to Afghanistan. I have a daughter who served in Afghanistan. Recently, I've seen nasty comments saying something to the effect that people defending Obama have 'kids old enough to go to war but aren't'. Pissed me off.

I don't like or defend war as a solution either, but I don't want the political right in power, ever. Obama inherited an incredible mess, perhaps more challenges than any other sitting president, and the political right is STILL INSANE.
