MANY MEETINGS: President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden hold a series of sit-downs together Monday, starting with a meeting and pool spray with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkey's leader indicated this weekend that his country won't be sending new troops to Afghanistan, but a signal of support from NATO's only predominantly Muslim member could give the president's war plan a boost.

After a closed-press working lunch with Erdogan, Obama and Biden sit down privately with Gen. Stanley McChrystal and Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry.

In addition to his meetings today with Turkey's prime minister and Gen. Stanley McChrystal, President Obama also will meet in the Oval Office with former Vice President Al Gore at 4:40 pm ET (closed to the press).

This Obama-Gore meeting comes as Obama heads to Copenhagen next week for the climate-change conference taking place there.

Gore will appear on MSNBC's "Andrea Mitchell Reports" on Wednesday.

5. Interesting indeed.

There are a LOT of moving parts, and I can't claim to know half of them.

This is always the way of national security situations. I don't want my government to divulge state secrets, or the details of delicate negotiations, so I can't only guess, but our president seems to have a way of moving things along quietly.
