Help wanted: 2010 Census to put 1,000 to work

This is going to help people who big time.. one of the really good side benefits of this, is that it will give a skill set to people who can then transfer that to applying for jobs at call centers which have been a local buisness growth.

On the personal side:.. My husband was at our local mall, and could not get into it because they were so backed up and no parking.. for a half mile the traffic was backed up.

SIOUX CITY -- A friendly, familiar face is one of the qualifications the U.S. Census Bureau will look for when it begins hiring as many as 1,000 people early next year to help with the 2010 Census in Sioux City.

"We want to make sure we hire people at the community level," said Sydnee Chattin-Reynolds, deputy director of the bureau's regional office in Kansas City, Mo. "That's very important to us because then residents are more comfortable opening their doors to people from their area."

The agency recently opened a Sioux City office on Sergeant Road, and 35 positions have already been filled. Chattin-Reynolds said the bureau will recruit about 1,000 people locally, 50 to work in the Sioux City office and about 950 to do field work. A total of 5,000 census workers will be hired statewide by spring.

As I said, local call centers will be looking to those who do this as future hires, because of the people skills they will acquire during this.
