being trolls for years. Had my argument with them early on and then avoided them. Shut my mouth. Every now and then one of them gets exposed by being tombstoned. And I think. "I KNEW that guy was a troll". It always amazes me how my sixth sense is always right. Some of them hide for a couple of years before they get exposed. Now that takes a lot of effort. I saw one person bragging about the fact that they had been BANNED from posting in this group. Well it seems safe enough in here I guess I'll give it a shot and post.I've actually been lurking on DU probably since 2000 or so but never posted before.Usually way too negative and I've had no desire to post something and be slammed by people usually over nothing usually.
But this seems like fairly safe waters especially considering I support President Obama whole heartedly.It's so nice to have a really smart person in charge for once in this country.Anyway you'll have to forgive me on here as I have a very bad tendency to ramble.It's nice to find a place on here that's actually positive about things.The one thing I've never quite gotten about DU is just the sheer black and whiteness of pretty much every issue.
It strikes me that when it comes to governance almost everything is a matter of shades of gray and almost no issue is pure black and white and people want to put every piece of legislation every attribute into neat little categories instead no nuance required.I don't know I guess I just get far more pragmatic as I get older and less idealistic and make less and less sense of wanting everything your way while not accepting political realities.
Anyway that's probably a horrid introduction but never have been good at em.Nice to meet you all and hope to talk to you in the future.Um by the way anyone know how I can get and put an obama image to go with my name.I"m afraid I"m not smart enough to figure that one out.

I agree with what you stated, shades of gray. When I was young, Ronald Reagan was the Republican God President and the brilliant idealist, Jimmy Carter, was considered useless. Anything positive we can get in this country with the media leaning so far to the right and non-stop propaganda on the radio is progress. Shades of gray indeed, I have heard the saying that making legislation is like making sausage, you might want the finished product but you won't enjoy watching the process. There is no black and white in any representative form of government, there is compromise. I happen to feel that due to the filibuster Democrats are at a disadvantage whether in the majority or minority, and that is not fair or representative of the will of the people, but it is what we seem to be stuck with at present. The media makes sure to tell us over and over that it takes 60 votes to pass anything in the Senate (untrue) but now it has been made true. You work with what you have because it is all you've got at present.

We don't have a Republican leading us to more and more war abroad and nothing short of theocracy at home, to be honest that in itself is a huge victory for our country. The rest takes gradual progress through work.

The more the merrier in this group, it means all Democrats on DU haven't lost their mind.

I can't stand GD or GDP. Don't understand why they are allowed to be so anti-Dem on a Democratic forum. But I'm so happy this group is still here.

Like most of you, I'm not happy about *everything* our President has done. I don't think it's possisble to have a president which which I would agree on everything. But there's a lot more that I *am* happy about. I'm just so happy to have Barack Obama as our President. He is what this country needs.

The man is intelligent, pragmatic, and even-tempered. I like that in my Presidents. He would have to do something WAY off the mark to lose my support, and I just don't see that happening.

I've been here almost since the inception of DU and in the past 6 months I have hemmed and hawed about whether to keep coming to DU. If not for BOG I would not be donating to this site at all. I know there are quite a few areas where the President can do much better, but the downright hostility and lies I have been seeing here and on other "lefty" blogs is depressing.

I actually welcome a primary challenge from Kucinich or his ilk, because I've never seen anyone lose an election 95%-5% and I want to see that before I die, for some reason. :)
