This occurred to me also. What positive contribution does venting hatred and rage non-stop make? It doesn't arrange any protest demonstrations over specific actions, doesn't mobilize anyone to give aid to others, it is just completely non-productive.

People claim they're "holding people's feet to the fire" and I'm thinking .. um, how? This is an internet message board, what anyone says here has zero ... absolutely, positively zero ... effect on anything any politician does in Washington.

If I want to hold their feet to the fire I'll go to an actual protest, or call or write. I come to DU to get a break from all of that because what's the point in getting all worked up here? I mean I understand venting but why do people delude themselves into thinking they're actually "doing something"?

I'd be declaring how I'm going to target Republican Senators up for reelection in 2010 so we can get more Democrats. Make Lieberman Senator #61 and his power goes out the window. True Blue Dogs would still hold out, but not as strongly as Lieberman or Republicans.

Which is why the howls of "I worked for his campaign for 3 YEARS and donated an entire year's salary while canvassing in 7 feet of snow and now after 8-11 months I hate his f'ing guts!!one!" posters get nothing from me but The Hand.

If you allegedly worked that damn hard for the man, then you should have known what he was about and what he was going to do. And as you stated so truthfully in your OP, if a poster here truly did all of that, then instead of CONSTANTLY bitching and whining on DU with 10 OPs of misery every damn day, their @ss would be on the phones with the people that they allegedly worked with during the campaign and they would be on this site EVERY DAY with strategies and game plans for folks to follow.

It's not hard to tell a true activist here. It really isn't.
