Tanning beds will see 10% increase in fees due to health care bill!!11!

Would you believe this was the lead story in the KC Star this morning? FEELING THE HEAT OF BILL'S EXPENSE. That was the headline and I thought it was going to be an article pointing out how burdensome the bill would be tax-wise to everyone, and it was ALL about an increase in the expense of using tanning beds!!

Just another example of our misleading media at work.

There is no difference in raising tanning bed taxes than raising cigarette taxes. This whole "no taxes" idea is idiotic. The same people who would be upset over no taxes on tanning beds probably begrudge every food stamp provided to feed hungry children.

The media is seriously inept, the promote ignorance. I get so disturbed by their little shallow themes. And they repeat misinformation over and over like "It takes 60 votes for the Senate to pass a bill", this is absolutely inaccurate, but they never flesh it out and discuss what is really in play with that, or that the 60 votes is to stop a filibuster ect... The media we suffer with is a detriment to our society.

Tanning beds, :puke: I haven't been in one of those things in 15 years and I am pasty white. When I was 30 I worked with a woman who was totally devoted to keeping a tan all year and at age 40 her skin looked like leather stretched over her body, that was enough of an example for me to decide to never get in one again.

Incredibly we have tanning salons here!
Just stepping outside the front door will give you a tan! Why pay to get one? :shrug:
