Some of you may remember Hal when he played Michael on Queer as Folk. He is a voice of reason in a sea of angry liberal bloggers. You can hear him filling in for Steph today. I'm posting a link to the last half of today's show. He takes on the PUMA's, the faux progressives, and doesn't back down in the face of name calling. That's especially critical now, because some people (Stephanie Miller included) retreat in the face of angry "liberal" poutrage. On some show, Arianna called Stephanie a "cheerleader", and it apparently made Stephanie question her support of the administration. Stephanie's a great comedian, and I love her, but she's just not the best at debating policy minutiae. These folks have actually made people afraid to say anything positive about this administration.

As an aside, I heard Joe Klein on NPR today. I wish I could find the clip where he calling out the fake progressives, and the mad bloggers. Klein distinguishes the real democratic base from the "liberal" blogosphere. It's probably on the NPR site. Catch it if you can.

He really dug in and stood his ground under some intense call-ins.

I miss Stephanie tho. I'm such a creature of habit - when my favorite hosts are sub'd, it always throws me a bit off. I often feel pathetic over my issue. *blush

8. I don't know how to post audio & video clips, or I would certainly do it.

I think some on our side have finally decided to take on the extremists (who really aren't Dems anyway)and begun to fight back. These third party activists who all seem to have a blog, or a radio/tv show seem to be the ones who control the debate. There seems to be no safe middle ground for those of us who aren't "ideologues", but pragamatists.

I hope when Stephanie gets back that she recovers from the spell of Arianna and the fake progressives. I really like her show. It gives me a much needed laugh in the mornings when I'm at work.

12. Hey. I love her show. Only sometimes I wish she would just pull the mic

on Chris. Steph should stand her ground with Chris, but I think she feels unsure of her ability to argue her position effectively. Therefore, she allows others to inform her opinion too easily.

14. Hey Grant. I love this guy. Normally, he's on with Steph on "Hal Sparks Wednesdays"

but he's been filling in for the past couple of weeks. Like you, he doesn't back down for fear of being called names. I'm hoping that he can be convinced to take on a show of his own, but he travels so much.

He's been on her show a lot now that she's moved to NYC, and he's a great addition.

Sometimes I think Stephanie tries too hard to straddle the fence, though her Hillary bashing and the ensuing whining really got to me during the primary! I had to stop listening to her... the sighing and whining were just too much... and really, there isn't that great a difference... but I digress:) She does try to keep it mellow... so I'm hoping Hal continues as her new mouthpiece for the things she can't bring herself to say;) You know, Soupy Sales had Fang... Paul Winchell had Jerry Mahoney... tombstoned DUers have their sockpuppets...

his site, and the radio show with claims of "cheerleader", "Obama shill". I feel the same way Hal does, these people were never progressives to begin with. They're all Heritage Foundation interns, paid to astroturf, just like the paid teabaggers.
