When I see your names on posts Out There, I can't tell you how much it means these days. Same with cliffordu and grantcart, to name a few more. Half the time I can't think of anything more intelligent to add besides Thanks and KnR, but it makes me feel like at least my voice is being added to yours.

I'm so glad we've got the BOG to hide out in when we need refreshment. When I get disgusted I come here for awhile and feel better.

32. Nance's "plummet" on DU has been fascinating to watch.

When she was bashing Bush, she was forever on the greatest page. Now that she has the unmitigated nerve to defend this President, suddenly she's public enemy #3 (behind Prosense and Frenchiecat, apparently). Nance should take heart because the same folks mad at her are mad at EVERYBODY ELSE too. Says so much more about them than it does about her.

What I find so fascinating is for every reasonable disagreement with a Nance OP, there are five more from people dragging and changing the subject to something that they feel Nance has done or hasn't done "in the past." It's obvious that much of the wailing and breast-beating is because of Nance herself, and not because of whatever she's written. And the idiotic attacks on her for "living in Canada" prove that.

I've found many threads in GD or GD-P about black issues get the same reaction. Suddenly, folks pop up out of nowhere with comments that have NOTHING to do with the subject at hand and try to take the conversation somewhere else. I wonder why that is??

A bunch of us had a good discussion via PM about one a few months ago. It's supposed to be scathing satire designed to wither the spirits of the people being maligned here on DU.

Instead, almost without fail, every single person that saw the board, INCLUDING people being "satirized" there, had the same comment: "Damn. Is this supposed to be funny?" One of my favorite posters here actually said that it was of considerable "consolation" that the haters on that site were so dim-witted and uncreative. :rofl:

I don't think any one of us, including the folks being talked about, has even gone back to the site -- it's THAT pitiful. When your efforts to criticize and "take folks down a notch" are met with expressions of pity and damn near total disregard, then maybe satire is not one's forte, eh??? ;)

It was posted on another blog. I followed the link and have been here ever since. And without knowing that she had brought me here she took the time to encourage me to begin posting my own OPs - so you CAN blame her for that, I guess.
