13. I sympathize, but let's try to be nice...
I have no love for her votes on the USA PATRIOT Act and the IWR, but she's learning the consequences of trusting El Diablo just like most other Democrats are. Let's wait and see how this goes down.

You don't have to participate. Sen. Clinton isn't my first choice either. But if she wants to explore, let her.

16. I just dislike the dodging of the pro-war issue by many of her supporters here
as well as some nasty snide comments along the lines of non-Hillary supporters are FReeps. None-the-less, they refuse to acknowledge that she has been pro-war and pro-patriot act continually. I despise her use of fluff issues such as 'violent video games' to win over Soccer Moms and NASCAR dads at the expense of real issues and progressive democratic values.

I do not think she has the swing voters' hearts and too many folks on both sides of the fence despise her. I have seen some BS stats trotted out on her by her supporters with NO SUBSTANTIVE SUPPORT. I do not want her political ambitions to steal the limelight of someone who actually has a better chance of winning and who might take the country in a far better direction.

19. Look if Hillary Haters didn't link to RW trash then they wouldn't be called freeps
Someone brought up Whitewater today for crissakes.

That's certainly not all of the members of the Clinton non-fan club (after all charter member MF helped debunk the Marassas shit yesterday) but there quite a few who seem to have no porb either posting RW bs or agreeing with it when it comes Clinton.

"I do not think she has the swing voters' hearts and too many folks on both sides of the fence despise her. I have seen some BS stats trotted out on her by her supporters with NO SUBSTANTIVE SUPPORT. "

BS stats? Like polls?

Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 03:25 PM by YOY
Not vague like the "Competent Woman President" one from Rutgers?

If you do, I'd like to see it.

As for the Whitewater stuff... sheesh. Who the hell would touch that old bag of crap?

Furthermore, why should I vote for the hawk? Because she has a 'D' after her name? That would just make me not vote at all come election day. I'd rather do all in my power to avoid that happening! I want to vote in 2008 and to vote for a pro-peace Democrat! I'm pretty sure that's not too much to ask for!

Curse me for thinking so. I fear this would lead more into the arms of the Greens and thereby us all into a Republican win.

I just don't think you are going to get what you seek.

"I fear this would lead more into the arms of the Greens and thereby us all into a Republican win"

After the great protest vote of 2000 and unless the Democratic nominee has a huge lead, I seriously doubt that.

Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 04:09 PM by YOY
Tooth and nail.

Regardless.

If that makes me a 'swiftboater' then I guess the definition of swiftboater is being abused.

2008 is a long way off and we did not retake the House and Senate by being 'pro-war'. Once Johnny Sixpack gets a whiff of just where Hilary stands I am sure that things will not bode as well for her.

I just cannot imagine myself voting for a hawk and do not want to obstain in 2008, but I will if my vote means nothing.

28. Here's the rub.
"Once Johnny Sixpack gets a whiff of just where Hilary stands I am sure that things will not bode as well for her."

Hillary's position evolution on the war very closely resembles that of the mainstream.

Johnny Sixpack was all hot to kill Iraqis when the war started(what was the polling? Like 70%+). But No WMDs, the endless nature of the conflict, the non-victory and mounting US death/casualty toll have forced him to reconsider his initial bloodlust.

I think Clinton's evolution on this in much the same manner will ring true with many voters.

31. and the populist stance stinks of opportunism
Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 04:28 PM by YOY
It is easily pointed out and in more of a weakness than a strength. She says and does whatever will get her more votes at the time...the 'flip flop' BS the RW pulled on poor Kerry will happen all over again. To further support her populist stance, Hilary adopts issues that she sees as an easy win, even when they betray progressive values and are flat out wrong. For example, her position on 'video game violence' as adopting a fluff issue with no substance (and trust me there is no substance there) has cut her viability and makes her an easy target.

Also Johnny Sixpack has hated Hillary from the go. Fox news told him to do so. Those feelings have not been countered with any action in the public's eyes.

36. Edwards is getting my money
But I will be paying close attention to Hillary and her message.

In fact, I went over to her site, signed up for the email updates, and will be listening to/watching the first "conversation" online tonight.

Because when it comes right down to it, she may not be my first choice for the nomination, but I'll vote for anything that isn't a Republican come November 2008.

And in the meantime, I intend to learn all I can about our candidates. Because it is possible to support one candidate without attacking the others. I'm already sick of the "eat your own" mentality.
