LOL, I was tired of the "if you need this, press 1," etc.

I kept pressing 0 but I kept getting the same message: "if you know the number of the person you want to reach.." so I finally selected it and pressed 12345 as the "extension" and... got the office of the president of that institution.

I could not be happier. I talked to the very polite assistant who was trying to connect me directly to the customer service dept. and when she, too, was told that the wait is 15 min., she suggested I tried later, but also gave me her direct number and her name.

They advice pushing zero at every prompt for a lot of them, and I've found that usually works almost anywhere. First, I'll try the don't press/say anything tactic, and if that doesn't work, just keep pressing 0. Now, whether I get put on hold for eternity is another matter. :eyes: I wonder how long it will be before that industry is on to those tricks.

2. I just had that same frustrating problem

even with rinky dink businesses around here, it seems you can no longer call, you have to go through hoops--and usually wind up with voice mail, if you're lucky.
