EU says Bush climate plan "the classic U.S. line"
President George W. Bush's plan to tackle climate change merely restates U.S. policy which has been ineffective in the past in cutting emissions blamed for global warming, the EU's environment chief said on Friday.

"The declaration by President Bush basically restates the U.S. classic line on climate change -- no mandatory reductions, no carbon trading and vaguely expressed objectives," EU Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas said, according to his spokeswoman.

"The U.S. approach has proven to be ineffective in reducing emissions," Dimas added of Bush's call on Thursday for 15 major countries to agree by 2008 on a long-term goal for cutting emissions.

European Commission President Jose Manual Barroso and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had emphasised that Bush's announcement did at least create more opportunities for dialogue, he said, adding that there was growing bipartisan support within the United States for a cap-and-trade system.

1. Bushies Plan for addressing CC is Crap....The Boys on the continent know this
but Bus could give a fuck...him being so arrogant...he just shows he gives a crap about our KIDS of the FUTURE ...never mind about us who will soon reap the rewards of inaction by him and Cronies....

Them GOP have truly fucked America by supporting this Dufus of Mega Proportions....I find some solace in the Pubs have also fucked themselves and their own Kids by installing Bush....their greed has a price...a steep one....

4. Of course it is the classic line.
Once again, the Bush administration shuns collective action
in favor a "coalition of the willing" or, in this case, a U.S.-led
alliance of the big polluters.

At the very least, the Bush plan delays action with 18 months
of further study. Even if the U.S. doesn't get its way, Bush
puts the issue off until after he leaves office.

5. Bush hasn't vetoed any climate change bills in the last 5 months.
Congress appears to be asleep at the wheel.

What do they have, some fact-finding committee, which won't even draft or suggest legislation?
