The $592 million facility is being built inside the heavily fortified Green Zone by 900 non-Iraqi foreign workers who are housed nearby and under the supervision of a Kuwaiti contractor, according to a Senate Foreign Relations Committee report. Construction materials have been stockpiled to avoid the dangers and delays on Iraq's roads.

The 104-acre complex — the size of about 80 football fields — will include two office buildings, one of them designed for future use as a school, six apartment buildings, a gym, a pool, a food court and its own power generation and water-treatment plants. The average Baghdad home has electricity only four hours a day, according to Bowen's office.

The Iraqi people have gotta be saying... "May I bask in the glow of your food court?" Of course this embassy project doesn't surprise me but what still amazes me is the lack of coverage by the MSM about the true nature of our presence in Iraq.

Are they painting a giant-assed target on the roof of the water treatment plant? Because aren't we fighting them over there so we don't have to fight the invading hordes of Iraqi people over here?

I am sure the Iraqis appreciate the USA having such a huge oil command and control center in their country.
What else explains the shear magnitude of this thing?

If I hear one more misinformed citizen tell me that our soldiers are dying for MY freedom I will have to lock up the pistola cabinet...

Give it a rest already.

Our freedom was never threatened by any Iraqi person and that includes Saddam.
