Call To Action : Impeachment Can Only Come From The People

As Democrats, as Liberals, as Americans, as Protectors of our Constitution, our campaign is not for President in 2008, but Impeachment in 2007.

Impeachment can only happen one way. It will not happen by an act of Congress. It will not happen by a Resolution from a State.

Impeachment can only happen if it comes from "We, the People." We have to put Impeachment back on the table. We have to file the Articles of Impeachment. We have to convene the hearings.

How, you ask ?

We must wage a campaign, a Serious campaign. In every issue of every newspaper editorial section in every town we live in, no matter how big or small, we must call for Impeachment. We must write. We must write until it hurts. We must plaster the newspapers with calls for Impeachment. We must inundate the press rooms of this country with letters. We must start an avalanche of public opinion.

We cannot let another day go by that every SINGLE one of us does not email or snail mail a Letter to the Editor to our local papers. All of them. Don't be shy, its easy. Since most newspapers won't print something from the same person more than once every few months, you need to recruit your friends to send letters, or let you use their name/address to send letters on their behalf. Put your children's name on the letters. Your neighbors. Your boss. Your parents. Hell, put your pets name on there. I don't care, just make sure you get LTTEs out to all newspapers you can possibly conceive of, no matter what the viewership is. Find their website, find their email address, find their postal address, and SEND.

Starting today, each person on DU should send out letters to the editor demanding the Impeachment of George W Bush and Dick Cheney. Do not stop sending letters until these bastards are Impeached! Keep the pressure on. And in your letters, make sure you ask the reader to send their own letters in! This is important! People want to feel like they are making a difference, and like they are part of the "team". Bushco is at ~30% in the polls, that's 70% of the People you can affect with your letters, folks.

Do it. Do it right now. No excuses. Just write. The campaign to Impeach Bushco starts Today!

Their first event yesterday morning was a news conference with Dennis Kucinich, a Democratic congressman from Ohio and Granny Peace Brigade favorite. "If there's a group that has the power to reach people's hearts," Kucinich said, "it's our grandmothers."

Granny organizers announced that 100 grannies from 21 states had come to lobby Congress. Most of the chapters have sprung up in the last year.

As the Philadelphians left the news conference in the Capitol basement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was walking past. "We're counting on you," said Paula Paul, quickly identifying herself and shaking the speaker's hand.

"Wish I could be with you, but I have to open the House," Pelosi said. "Being speaker has its responsibilities."

As Pelosi, arguably the most powerful grandmother in America, disappeared down a hallway, a member of the Granny Peace Brigade shouted after her, "Impeach Bush."
