I LOVE this idea and am ordering mine today. I thought you would like it too.
About Peace Ribbon
So many of us were caught off guard by the onslaught of those yellow "Support Our Troops" magnets. How did they become so widespread at such a fast pace? How did those magnets quickly morph from a "neutral" stance in support of our troops to a pro-war pro-Bush agenda?
The Peace Ribbon™ shown here is a response to the Support our Troops car yellow ribbon magnet. Based on the peace symbol - the Peace Ribbon™ takes back the yellow ribbon as a symbol for those who want to support our troops through peace.
Where the money goes
50% of every dollar received (minus the shipping charges) is given away to organizations who advocate for and help the victims of the war in Iraq. That means if you buy a Peace Ribbon bumper sticker that costs $3.00, $1.50 of that will go to these organizations.
At the startup, these funds are being given to the Iraqi Children's Art Project and Gold Star Families for Peace.
The original impetus was to help those victimized by the war. One organization, the Iraqi Children's Art Project is, like the Peace Ribbon, a locally-based, grassroots effort. Its mission is to raise awareness of and compassion for the innocent Iraqi people across the United States, through the eyes of Iraqi children. Gold Star Families for Peace, the organization found by Cindy Sheehan, assists families who have been impacted by the war.
We invite your input in identifying other worthy organizations in need of support and will monitor our choices regularly as world events change and needs shift. Please contact us with your thoughts.
The remaining 50% will be used to cover startup costs, and beyond that will be reinvested into the project. Our long-term goal is to increase the percentage of donated funds to greater than 50%.
