2. Yes, good rains are welcomed in the SE....
But this little storm was a "pop-up" just this afternoon.

7. Well, the rain is certainly welcome down here
But the fact that today is the first day of the Atlantic Hurricane season and we've already used two names bodes ill for this year as far as hurricanes go. Last time this happened, we had Dennis, Katrina, Rita and Wilma (2005) (although in 2005, we didn't use the B Name until June 29... so... well, you get the idea. It's likely we will end up using the Greek alphabet again). Not good news if that happens again.

And if Barry were to strengthen even more (not projected at this time to happen), it most certainly would not be GREAT NEWS for SW Florida, no matter how much rain it brings.

10. I dont think you can look at a whole season because of a couple storms.
For example, the first storm in 2004 wasn't until August 1st, and we all know how that turned out.

8. Sounds a little too cheery to be so distructive, doesn't it?
I keep picturing a really jovial guy with a short 'fro and lots of white teeth.

13. We need the rain here in NC!
I wish it wasn't going to be a deluge but we'll take it nevertheless.

17. They need a name - that's two already!
The "forecasters" need a rain event to be a named storm.
In SE FL tonight and today I've seen little more than a drizzle.
I have friends calling from the NE checking to see if we're alright!!
Another sterling job by the "no news" media!
What did they "predict" this year? 17?
Nonsense. Hurricanes aren't pretty, but we need competent, responsible forecasting and news reporting about these "events" - not scare tactics.

20. I haven't seen any scare tactics
Then again, I haven't really been watching the locals much. As far as it being an official named storm, well, there are specific criteria for that and this storm meets them.

I'm not sure where you could be in South Florida to receive a mere "drizzle" but I am in Delray Beach and we have certainly gotten a lot more than that. I can't imagine anyone being frightened by this storm, it's nowhere close to even minimal hurricane strength and it's center is still well out to sea. I'm just happy for the wet, thank you very much.

24. Heres the last visible before sunset.
As you can see, shear has blown all convection to the NE and left the center exposed.
