2. Really good question.

Especially given the amount of shit Nader took for running.

4. I have a hunch that Lieberman was planted by the neo-cons...

and he was going to do the equivalent of what Cheney did to get us into Iraq.

I was wondering how he came to be the pick, did someone suggest it to Gore, and who was it? That's my question, and I wonder if anything can be found to shed some light on this.

5. I think there were two reasons. !st, Joe was almost the LONE Dem
who really beat up on BX for the BJ. 2nd, it was assumed he would win the Fl. Jewish vote.

10. VP's are always chosen for what they can do for the ticket.
Clearly chosing Joe was a mistake, but I don't ever remember him being anywhere near as bad back then as he is now!

8. Gore distanced himself from Clinton as a strategy.
Lieberman had been one of the few Dems to harshly repudiate Clinton.

14. "Harshly repudiate Clinton"?! Joe beat the republicans to the floor of the Senate
to condemn Clinton and explicitly read him the Riot Act. He wouldn't shut up and only stopped a hair short of demanding Clinton resign.

11. Whatever the reason, it was a HUGE mistake!
What an enormous liability to have Joe as a running mate. Gore only focused on the Clinton connection and didn't look at how Joe presented himself, etc. etc.

12. I wonder how he lives this down?
"I am proud to nominate the first Jewish candidate for vice president, my colleague and my friend Joseph Lieberman," said Dodd. "Al Gore, you could not have made a better choice for the vice presidential candidate of the United States."
