awesome scene at the airport tonight...a soldier coming home into the arms of his family

had to go pick up hubby from airport...

his plane was 30 minutes later than scheduled 11 pm

waiting at the gate of our little airport was a young woman with an adorable little girl about two with flowers in her hands and a really cool red/white/blue star balloon. She had a home made card that said I love daddy.


when the soldier got through the gate, people started clapping and he ran to his wife and picked up his little girl and it was just the most awesome thing to see.


he was crying and said he never wanted to leave again.



I HATE THIS WAR AND WHAT IT DOES TO FAMILIES. I LIKE HAPPY ENDINGS

I don't know if he is done, but the relief in all of their faces was great

My husband, a US soldier, made it out of Iraq, thank God. Many of his unit (4th ID) were not so lucky. They're heading back to Iraq. Again.

And again. And again.

And many will never return.

And if George W. bUsh's desire comes true, they will be sent again and again and again to Iraq.

Until they never return.

No, I didn't "lose my heart".


I am bitter, though. Bitter for those whose lives were wasted; bitter for those whose lives will be wasted, bitter for those who are and will be damaged and scarred for the rest of their lives. For an illegal, immoral, criminal war of aggression.

come home to his family only to face yet again being sent back, knowing each time his chances of ever seeing his family again diminishes.

And every time these young men & women are sent back, they are further damaged by what they've seen and done.

I never knew I could be this deeply angry.

Hope this man is back home, where he belongs, for good. Maybe for him, George W. bUsh won't get his way.

he's not going to be sent back, he was lucky, he just came back with a really bad eye infection. Before he went, he was
a dittohead, now all he says is: why are we there, it's a hellhole.

Two years ago we were staying in a hotel in Watertown when a bunch of soldiers from Fort Drum (10th Mountain Div) came home. Many of their families were staying in the same hotel and eating in the Denny's there and many times DH and I had a hard time keeping the tears in check watching the children and spouses so full of joy at seeing their loved one finally at home.. at least for a while... hopefully for good. :)

It's nice to find the small bit of joy sometimes so I'll leave the rest of my not as pleasant musings and memories for another day.. another thread. :)

17. it's so good to them actually coming home, i do the airport run about 4 times

a month and usually i see them going, i almost never get to see them coming home.

18. there were actually about 4 service men coming off the plane

but this man had such a touching scene, it touched my heart. The little girl put her hands on each of her daddy's cheeks and just looked like she was trying to burn his face in her mind...and this girl was LITTLE like two
