The San Diego Union Tribune INCORRECTLY reported online today (Sign On San Diego) that former Vice President Al Gore would participate in tonight's Democratic debate to be broadcast on CNN at 7:00 p.m. EST. The report also included information that Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson would join CNN's debates.

6. I think it is just the latest example...

...of what Al Gore wrote about in his book, "The Assault on Reason," when he describes the incompetence of the media and their coverage of the 'horse race' aspect of presidential campaigns to the detriment of the issues important to our nation. Our country's founders believed the media was critical to an informed citizenry...but they envisioned a competent media.
