March of the People

Ordinary citizens from around the country are leaving the safety and comfort of their homes this summer to express their level of commitment to this nation, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the future of its people.

On June 21, 2007 the March of the People ( www.marchofthepeople.org ) will rally at Millenium Park in Chicago and embark on their journey of 800 miles to our nations' capitol, demanding an end to the illegal occupation in Iraq and calling for the impeachment of both President George Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney.

As a stand in solidarity in this process, we will be joined en route by:

the "March for Peace", ( www.marchforpeace.info ) three students who left San Francisco on May 22nd heading for DC to raise awareness about the need for peace and to unite people in a course of action.

and Bill McDannell, a father of five, grandfather of four, Viet Nam era veteran and former Methodist pastor. Bill left his home in Lakeside, California on November 4, 2006 to walk a petition demanding the end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, to Washington, DC. - "Walk To End The Wars", ( www.wtetw.com ). "I am doing it as a grandfather, in the belief that if the grandfathers and grandmothers of our nation do not raise our voices, we will one day see our grandchildren being sent off to a seemingly endless war."

While we still have the constitutional right to petition and to speak out as individual citizens regarding issues that affect our daily lives and the lives and future of our children - we will walk. We walk for peace, we walk for truth, we walk for justice.

We will walk alone if we must, but welcome any and all who are ready to take definitive action to end this illegal occupation, bring our troops home now, and demand accountability for the atrocities that have been committed. Please, come walk with us.

The Hopi Elders say that "we are who we've been waiting for". With that said, what are you going to do?
