What do you say to a republican that says this about Clinton's impeachment:
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 11:00 AM by cat_girl25
"If he couldn't muster up enough courage to vote Guilty on Clinton's impeachment, he is not the man to lead us during these very dangerous times."

This was posted on the house chronicle website. What is a good comeback? Any suggestions?

1. Why would you want to refute an attack on a Republican?
I would say "Right on. Now let's talk about Romney the "lifelong hunter" who hunted twice in his life."

3. Well, it was because of what he said about Clinton's bogus impeachment.
Not really Fred Thompson.

4. Oh - well, then I'd remind him that Clinton had a more than 70
percent approval rating AFTER impeachment.

Bush has... what? Backwash?

2. Why would you need a comeback?
That's both correct and maybe deducts one voter from his primary tally.

He's the guy we're going to have to beat. If we can keep him from winning the primary, we have a better shot. Not much better, considering our front-runners can't really garner many swing Bubba votes in the South and mid-West, but better.

Why do you need a comeback?
I say let the Republicans kick each others' teeth out all the live-long day. You and I can stand on sidelines eating popcorn and laughing our asses off. Ain't nothing more entertaining than a Republican circular firing squad.

5. Agree with them 100%....
Now is the time to stir the pot in terms of the failings of Republicans.

Fred Thompson is a creep, he'll be another puppet, like Reagan and Dubya if elected.

7. Why do you need a comeback?
Let the republicans continue to eat their own. There's a group of people wanting to push Thompson in, and they're trying to make him out as the heir apparent to Reagan, and then there's a group of people wanting to keep him out so they're bringing up the laziness issue. Let them keep duking it out no matter what they say.

9. He had the courage to vote his convictions. So, what's it going to be..
Convictions or the "courage" of the herd?

They can have either a principled man (not rabidly anti-Clinton) or a cynical partisan. It sounds twisted that they think that voting guilty would've been courageous.

Anyway, I don't know anything about Thompson or his actions there. I'm just responding to the apparent snafu from the original post. However, I would *love* to see that right wing, anti-Clinton venom ruin the republican's big business, anti-environment options.
