Faith - Action - Change: People of Faith for Barack Obama
Faith - Action - Change: People of Faith for Barack

Welcome!
by Joshua DuBois - Director of Religious Affairs | Friday, June 01, 2007 at 21:50am

Welcome!

My name is Joshua and I'm the director of religious affairs for Barack Obama. We're excited to welcome you to the Faith - Action - Change website, People of Faith for Barack Obama!

Barack's faith has long informed his values and public service, as it does for millions of Americans. We've seen overwhelming support from people of faith on this campaign so we wanted to build a web community to help grassroots supporters connect with one another, tell folks a little about what Barack believes, share stories and ideas, and organize to change our country for the better

On this website you'll be able to join Faith - Action - Change, People of Faith for Barack; read testimonials from grassroots supporters and religious leaders about why they support Obama; check out blog posts from our staff and religious leaders; read and watch Barack on his personal faith and his vision for the role of people of faith in American life; and take this campaign - YOUR campaign - in your own hands.

Barack wanted us to create this site because of what he's seeing at campaign stops across the nation. From Oakland to Texas, Iowa to Atlanta, we're meeting people of all faiths and many with no faith at all who are tired of divisiveness and want to come together to meet our common challenges, people who realize that the responsibility we have to one another as Americans is greater than the pursuit of any ideological agenda or corporate bottom line. This website is one small way to help foster that community.

We invite you to click around. Sign up for the Faith - Action - Change group in your state. Form or join a group (we've seen groups from Evangelicals for Obama and Jews for Obama to Utah Catholics for Obama and a bunch more). Join the movement. Tell us what you like and what you don't. And most of all, we invite you to own this campaign - this movement for change.

Blessings,
Joshua

2. Last night, faith wasn't mentioned at all,

(as far as I know. I missed the last 20 minutes of it), and very few people noticed or commented on that. Did anyone in the media even catch that? I find it funny that after all the brouhaha over the Democratic Party needing to be louder about faith, the debate people genuinely praise as being interesting is one where faith is MIA.

This is all the Republicans' fault. If they hadn't decided to don the faux-authority of religion to sell their authoritarian agenda, our people wouldn't feel pressured to do it, too.
