Scarborough has an Imus moment:

http://www.palmettoscoop.com/2007/06/04/scarborough-has-an-imus-moment/

Presidential candidate Fred Thompson’s second-and-current wife Jeri, who is considered by some to be a “trophy wife,” was the topic of an interesting conversation on Friday’s Morning Joe radio talk show, which aired live on MSNBC. During a rather suggestive segment, Scarborough asked Congressional Quarterly writer Craig Crawford if Thompson’s wife, who is twenty-five years his junior, “works the pole.”

Here’s the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJNhkBllbag&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Epalmettoscoop%2Ecom%2F2007%2F06%2F04%2Fscarborough%2Dhas%2Dan%2Dimus%2Dmoment%2F

SCARBOROUGH: Have you seen Fred Thompson’s wife?
CRAWFORD: Oh, yeah.
SCARBOROUGH: You think she thinks she works the pole?
CRAWFORD: That’s what a Hollywood career will do for you, I guess.
SCARBOROUGH: What do you mean?
CRAWFORD: You get wives like that.
SCARBOROUGH: I mean, look at that guy. God bless him, I love his voice. But I mean, you know. He ain’t Robert Redford in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”
CRAWFORD: Well I would like to see him back into politics because I think he’s a lousy actor.

We’re not exactly sure what Scarborough is suggesting - there are a few interpretations and we’ll leave those to you - but we are sure that MSNBC doesn’t need another Don Imus-like mess on their hands.

1. There are only 2 possibilities.
I doubt Joe Schmoe would ever refer to either, so I have no idea what the heck he was asking.

2. I saw that, and...
did notice a slight smirk when he mentioned "working the pole" but it was all cleared up later-- the latest exercise craze in some circles.

But, even if the double-entendre was intentional, as it well might have been, that ain't no "Imus moment."

4. Agreed-
Imus was blatantly racist. If intentional this was simply "racey" (and pretty funny). I think Thompson's wife would be a liability. Anyone agree?

5. As I have said on the other thread of the same subject, this was hardly an Imus moment
I even laughed! And Ive heard much worse things said about women by people on these boards.
