What, exactly did Bush do, or even try to do, to stop those Al Qaida operations that would become manifest in the 9.11 attacks???

Do you really, I mean really think that Gore would've spent the month of August '01 on vacation if he had received the same intel as W. Bush??!

Citing the Markle Foundation on pages 140-141 of The Assault on Reason Gore explains that had the White House simply paid attention to two names on the terrorist list that revealed themselves to law enforcement weeks before September 11th, the names of ALL NINETEEN hijackers would have been identified prior to September 11th. We had a program in place called TIPOFF which, if Bill Clinton or Al Gore were President, would have prevented 9/11.

By saying 9/11 was preventable does not mean that one has to engage in any wild conspiracy theories. Those who do will be denounced by me. Stick with the facts we have. In addition to what Gore points out, it is very likely that had the White House reacted differently to ANY one of the facts below, 9/11 doesn't happen. Had they reacted differently to all of the facts below, 9/11 surely doesn't happen.

John Ashcroft, head of Justice, ordered his staff that he didn't want to be bothered with issues about terrorism.

Agent Williams sent to the FBI all the info on Moussouai and flight training schools needed to prevent 9/11.

The CIA was saying that "hairs were on fire" warning of an impeding 9/11 attack.

Bush cut funding for anti-terrorism during 2001 while within 10 days of taking office in January of 2001 was ordering up plans to invade Iraq and ignore the real threats facing America.

3. If they had not ignored or rejected the Taliban's offer to

hand over Bin Laden in February of 2001 (see the link in my sig line), there is the chance that 9/11 attacks would not have happened (or could have been blamed on OBL). They didn't negotiate with the Taliban for the hand over of OBL in February, Taliban wanted sanctions lifted, but they did pay the Taliban $43 million in May of 2001 to try to garner the Taliban's support for US involvement with that every so golden pipe line.

Most likely there would not have even been an attack on 9/11 under President Gore, but no way in such a situation would he (or most likely any other president) have sat there reading to a second grade class!
