More dog food being recalled along with aspirin
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 03:05 PM by durtee librul
being found in a dog food brand that our wonderful FDA doesn't want to release the name of. Web page is http://nationalpetfoundation.com/pet-food-recall.html

Got this in an email just now from the rescue group I work with.

..............""First of all, the dog food recall saga continues. :(

We got this in from xxx, our Nevada Team Leader regarding Walmart brand of "Ole Roy." I also heard this story on Fox News. yesterday.

Subject: Wal Mart Pet Foods Recalled
Date: 6/7/2007 3:01:28 P.M. Central Daylight Time
From: xxx.com

Received this from another Small Pawser last evening. In case any of you are buying this food, here is a heads up.

xxx
Nevada Team Leader
xxx Rescue

Please forward this information to family and
friends that have pets.

Ol'Roy Complete Nutrition has Salmonella

The food is believed to have been sent out to
Wal-Mart stores. The FDA has tested the food and
found Salmonella. The official statement release is
"This product has the potential to be contaminated
with Salmonella. People handling this pet food can
become exposed to Salmonella, especially if they
have not thoroughly washed their hands after having
contact with this pet food or any surfaces exposed
to this product. Consumers who have the dry dog food
bearing the code "04 0735 1" with a
"Best By Apr 13 08" should not feed it to their pets."

New Recalls Coming

It has also been reported that acetaminophen was
found in pet food samples. Currently the FDA is
investigating this and has not released the name
of the food. Acetaminophen can kill both dogs and
cats at high dosages. We will let you know the name
of the pet food products containing acetaminophen
as soon as it is announced.

The FDA has not announced the Ol'Roy recall on
their site yet. Don't wait for the FDA to make their
announcements. Get notifications within the hour
of new recalls and save your pet's life. Sign your
family and friends up for the free pet alerts at:

1. I really hope this will make people
look at Wally mart in a different way. I think this problem, along with people food, is only going to get worse. Our FDA and Dept. of Ag are not competant to handle this, being full of bushtards.

12. No, actually dogs can have aspirin, but not acetominiphen (ie., Tylenol)
Edited on Fri Jun-08-07 03:24 PM by htuttle
My dog has arthritis, and she gets up to 325 mg every 12 hours when it's bothering her (dosage note: she's a big German Shepherd).

Both are bad for cats, however.

3. Aren't drug companies making enough money (Billions) that they have
to push their drugs into pet food?

Where are the government agencies that are mandated to protect us? Are they tipping too many too?

This is insanity.

4. The reason they delay identifying the malefactors
I suspect that the reason they delay naming these rogue companies is to allow time for bush, his cronies and financial backers to:

1. Divest themselves of any stock before the announcement pushes the price down; or,

2. Establish a short stock position for themselves to cash in when the stock price goes down.

7. I couldn't tell if the OP meant that dog food was being recalled because of aspirin
or if aspirin was being recalled as well as dog food. The OP literally says the latter, but I've learned not to assume grammar and punctuation are well thought out in every post. :) Including mine!

13. for legal issues the FDA MUST wait for confirmation
of the contaminant by a second lab before it can release names. I have experience with the FDA. They tend to be overly cautious with this type of things because they have been burned by mistakes in the past. There are set rules here even if its frustrating for the consumer. They leave themselves open to legitimate lawsuit if they don't follow protocol in this. And they are usually talking to the company actively as well as investigating while this happens as well. A lot of stuff goes on in situations like this that the media fails to report on.
