Reason Not to be Upset by Paris Hilton's Sentence
I know that yesterday someone posted about the teenager who had his 10 year sentence for have consentual oral sex overturned, but I would like to connect this story to the Paris Hilton story. For days there have been people complaining about the fact that Hilton will spend 45 days in jail. Some people, most likely the same people, have been bashing other DU member who were happy that the judge in the case did not let Hilton skip out on her sentence. I think the people who criticized other DU member and made out like Hilton had been treated harshly should think about the Georgia case. In that case a 17 year old kid was sentenced to 10 years in prison only for having consentual oral sex with a 15 year old girl. In addition, as far as I know this was the first time the guy was caught doing what he was doing. Furthermore, what he was doing with the girl though it may have been wrong and/or stupid had very little chance of hurting anyone. It is possible that the girl could have picked up a sexually transmitted disease, but that is about all that could have happened.

In Paris's case she was caught doing the same illegal thing three times. Moreover, it is possible that she endangered the lives of multiple people on at least one occasion. On the other occasions she just disregarded the law.

I do not think I am better than Paris Hilton, I just do not think her case is one that shows that our justice system has problems. There are other cases that show the problems, but not the Paris Hilton case.

1. Oh, I get it now. It depends on WHY you're upset with Paris' sentence.
I didn't realize anyone thought it was too harsh. Lol!
