People in the U.S. who are very ga-ga about Chavez.

Yes, I know he got his watch stolen.

5. Exactly, and anyone who isn't getting just a bit nervous about Chavez
is either asleep or kidding himself.

If he restricts media censorship to those outlets that are advocating violent revolution, all he's done so far, there will be grounds for a sigh of relief.

However, the insistence on ideological purity in private life as a prerequisite for joining a political party is creepy, to say the least. Who is he to say whether or not a household item is "extra?"

My guess is that the town squares will be empty.

3. It kind of reminded me of Stephen Colbert
as he makes his way to greet his guest for the show. I don't think Stephen has ever lost his watch though.

6. They Remind Me Of Old Newsreels
They remind me of old newsreels where Austrian and Italian people cheer Hitler.

9. These thugs?

John Stewart said something last night that makes me think that this Albanian crap might have been nothing but a Rovian photo-op. He said "How the hell did these people get SO CLOSE to him? Hell, we can't get that close to him and WE'RE Americans." There's a lot of truth to that. Why were these complete strangers allowed so close to Little Lord Pissypants? He had one hell of a turnout in Europe...with the huge amount of protesters and all. Guess they figured they needed to balance out all of the hatred people feel towards the war criminal.

17. Yeah, because there's thousands of Americans out in the streets
cheering for Chavez every day!

Or maybe, some people just like to draw very thin parallels that have no real basis in reality to prove their point when they really have nothing else to draw on except for things that have been argued endlessly with no resolution.

That would've added extra flair to this obviously artificial moment.

20. I don't see any similarity
When has Chavez ever been met by cheering crowds in the U.S.?

Though he might be, to those who the Venezuelans provided the heating oil.
