7. Actually, in this case..it doesnt matter because

this is not caused by an infection, it is caused by something on the plane or something they ate. No contagious disease would act that fast...the time they were on the plane...there just was not enough time for the virus or bacteria to incubate and make a person sick.

and if I had a serious illness still in the contagious period I would avoid flying, period. Reservations can be changed.

In the case of TB and a necessary transatlantic flight, I would try to avoid it at all costs. Wearing a mask is a miserable proposition when it gets soggy after a few minutes. Wearing one for hours would be sheer torture, especially not being able to remove it to take a sip of water in a dry cabin.

I'd travel in a mask, though, if it were absolutely necessary for me to get where I'm going.

6. Ridiculous premise, sorry

In some cases, simply being within their defined "exposure" (for example 2-3 rows ahead and behind a specific ill individual, for many serious, highly communicable conditions spread via respiratory droplets) would result in your being detained for observation. While you might "say" you were asymptomatic, that would have little bearing. However, observation and request for future contact rarely implies involuntary quarantine/isolation.

Besides, if you were really ill, do you not realize how obvious it would be to CDC medical epidemiologists--who are there, after all to protect both you and others?
