1. "Suicide Health Care" is good. Makes all problems disappear...
I know, not a laughing matter, but sometimes I wonder if that's not what society would want all their sick to do: Just kill themselves and stop bothering the rest of society.

2. Born Rich Plan works great!
As does the Called In Rich Plan!

I love my managed care! If the gummint took over I'd have some bureaucrat telling me what doctors I can see and telling my pharmacist what pills will be substituted for whatever the doctor they demanded I go to wrote on the prescription. Oh wait I already have that. No but really see, if the gummint took over then I'd have to wait three years to get emergency heart surgery just like in CANADIA!

4. My system with Medicare
When I was getting ready to retire I compared the plan I was covered with, which was my husband's at work, with Medicare Part B. I DID get a better deal with paying a monthly premium for it than Medicare Part B. However, that will go away once my husband retires. I was informed by Medicare that I could decline Part B now if I was covered already and then pick it up later without a penalty.

That is the ONLY reason I went with a private insurance company over Medicare. I am fortunate in that my husband is a union member and they fight tough when negotiating each new contract. My situation is probably fairly unusual.

What we need is what Al Franken calls "Medicare for everybody." My recent hospitalization was covered by Medicare Part A totally. I shudder to think of what it cost and nobody should have to worry when they are sick and in need of medical attention.

But the tide is turning in this country. I think we'll get something close to universal health care in this country if we elect a Dem president and Congress in 08 and get out of this war in Iraq, two things I devoutly wish into being.

5. Not sure what you want, but
I like Medicare, plus my supplemental.

I had a total knee replacement in Oct 2005, and the entire cost was paid by both of those insurances.

Why would I want something better?

I just pray it stay the way it is.

However, I COULD use some help with meds. I do have Medicare prescription coverage, plus another 10% deductible through my supplemental plan. But I still can't cover my cost for a couple of my meds. I get what I can from my primary care doc and even use the meds every other day rather than daily. This is not a good thing, but better than nothing.

And the congress definitely doesn't want any comparison shopping done by Medicare! The congress, I think, wants to practice birth control in this country by killing off us older folks with too expensive meds.
