Perhaps a reality show would make Americans care about the Iraq fiasco
I'm still amazed that "American Idol" is so much more newsworthy to people than the nightmare in Iraq. We need some true "reality" television.
Let's have a show about the soldiers who have given up their lives for no apparent reason, or let's visit a hospital full of young men and women who have lost their limbs and whose lives are ruined thanks to this invasion of Iraq. Maybe interview some family members and friends of these soldiers, so we can understand how their lives will never be the same.
Let's send cameras to Iraq and show pictures of the dead and wounded Iraqis and all the people who are homeless. Maybe the History Channel could do a series about how we have destroyed the history of a country and started a civil war.
Perhaps we could see a soap opera about the billions of dollars wasted on this fiasco and all the programs cut in this country due to a lack of federal funding.
None of these shows would get any corporate sponsors, because most Americans don't seem to be affected by any of this and are totally lacking compassion or passion about this "war."
We have lost respect all over the world and are pushing democracy on Iraq, while giving it up in our own country. President Bush has run amok with his power, and Congress needs to stop him
Please call your representative and senators and tell them not to support the surge, and join the peace rally in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 27.
