What's with the Daily Mail?
Typical articles:

Why liberal parents are now breeding a generation of little horrors

Why? Because somehow our liberal society has created a tribe of monstrous kids. Parents have become terrified of their offspring, in thrall to their every want and desire, which they scurry to fulfil. And the thanks they receive? A constant litany of abuse, much of it woundingly personal, and publicly delivered, casual disobedience.

I can't forgive my daughter for being gay

Now, I look back and wonder if it was something we did or didn't do as parents that encouraged her to become a lesbian. For example, perhaps I should have confronted my concerns about her earlier and we could have talked it through. But at the time, I didn't worry.

Most of the rest of the articles are about movie stars.

2. Is this one of those British tabs that have the topless "Page 3 girls"
right next to the right-wing bullshit? I've heard of these.

It is a good sign that NONE of the people who sent in comments on the second story were on the mom's side. This suggests the paper is out of touch with its own readership on this issue.

3. No, the Mail is breast-free
Though it has a lot of boobs writing for it. But right-wing bullshit, oh yes: it's the vilest of the tabloids in that respect. I don't share your optimism about their readers, I'm afraid, since I share an island with them.

4. Aren't "Daily Mail readers" known for being neanderthals?
I believe I've read that before. It makes the New York Post look enlightened and cerebral by comparison.

5. A typical Mail reader would see themselves as 'respectable'
but they are reactionary. The paper typically runs stories about fear of immigrants, or of house prices falling.

A website once rans a continuing spoof they called "Daily Mail Island", a parody of reality TV, in which people were left on an island with only the Daily Mail to inform them of the outside world - and how it turned into "Lord of the Flies", with them burning unmarried mothers as witches and so on. Somehow, it was extremely believable.
