Snow attacks Harry Reid for alleged comments

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2007/06/reid_calls_general_incompetent.html#more

“We are a little bit concerned about some reports on the Internet that Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid, in a conversation with liberal bloggers, had referred to General Pete Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, as incompetent, and apparently -- again, according to the reports -- had said disparaging things also about General David Petraeus,’’ Snow said.

“We certainly hope it's not true,'' Snow said, "because at a time of war, for a leader of a party that says it supports the military, it seems outrageous to be issuing slanders toward the chairman of the Joint Chiefs and also the man who's responsible for the bulk of military operations in Iraq.

“Indeed, Sen. Reid has at some point declared the war lost and also has declared the surge a failure even though it has not yet been fully enacted. I don't know if it's true or not. If it is true, I certainly hope he does apologize.’’

Politco.com, the new online and hard-copy report on Washington politics, reported today that Reid had called Pace "incompetent" during an interview on Tuesday with a group of liberal bloggers – a comment which Politico explains had not been previously reported.

...

Why not wait to find out if Reid’s comment is reported correctly before launching a “pre-emptive strike,’’ the WH press secretary was asked?

“Well, I just think it's appropriate to comment on it,’’ Snow said.

Whether or not it’s true, he was asked?

“Well, do you trust the Politico?’’ Snow, a journalist at heart, replied. “I don't know. I'll give -- we'll give a call.’’

15. To be fair, I don't know if she lobbies for War Corporations, but she does Lobby.

Reid DEMANDED that a grandfather clause be put in the new Congressional Rules Reform Package that essentially "grandfathered" family members of Senators who are PRESENTLY lobbying on Capitol Hill to NOT be included on the Ethics Reform Bill.

How can we have *any* faith in a Majority Leader who demands that incoming Senators NOT allow their spouses and other family NOT LOBBY, while his is continuing to "rake in the dough" for lobbying Senators on the behalf of large corporate interests?

Don't even get me started on his sons' behavior. :grr:

3. I DON'T trust the Politico and CBS has a much different story.
And Politico has not a single direct quote from the senaor and cites his participating in a "liberal blog."

That's it.

16. The fact that Dear Leader promoted politico.com during a news conferences gives me the creeps.
and also tells us that politco.com may be a little less than a true member of "The Fourth Estate." :eyes: ... more like "A mouthpiece for The Unitary Executive Branch"?

5. This sounds like a load of horse shit to me, designed to distract the public
The mere fact that Tony Snow is talking about what some anonymous blogger says Harry Reid says would be laughable if it weren't indicative of how bad things have gotten. Shut up, Tony.

6. Hey Snow, your very own Pentagon says the surge isn't working.
They just made this announcement this week. Face it, the surge is a failure, Pace and Patraeus are failures, Bush is a failure, and so are you for supporting this motly bunch of failures.

Reid is just speaking the truth, and we all know Bushco doesn't like the truth.

if anyone remmbers that Leahy had anthrax mailed to him.

no one was charged...hell, there wasn't even a serious investigation.

It was anthrax raised in a US military lab.

20. On this one Topic - Snow's hissy fit, you are exactly right! politico.com is the new DRUDGE Report
So true. Mentioned above: That the "political elites" started a blog (politco.com) and automatically anointed it as credible.

Also found this important tidbit from the thread you mentioned:

"Google News search for Reid, Pace, incompetent and they all "source"
ONLY Politico."

Don't you hate it when they tout such bunk?

Thanks for the education

21. Trust them, HELL, the WH and other RW republican operatives *breathed life into* politico.com

When Dear Leader PROMOTES a newly formed news site on his beloved *Internets* IN THE MIDDLE of a Press Conference, then it is safe to conclude this site (politico.com) is nothing more than a cheerleader for the best interests of The Unitary Executive.

Sure they'll throw in some moderate voices at times in order to muddy the political waters, but when it comes down to brass tacks, politico.com EXISTS primarily to support the goals of THIS Executive Branch. :wow:
