I am completely unable to muster any sympathy for I. Liar Libby.

There are others who also fail to evoke sympathy, while others have gained sympathy but lost it over time.

The Duke lacrosse 'innocent boys' never had my sympathy. Neither did the case's prosecutor. The accuser had it but quickly lost it.

Paris and Brittany .... never had it.

Judy Miller ..... nada

Matt Cooper ....... nope.

Beth Holloway .... had it ...... lost it.

2. Paris had it, but lost it

when she couldn't hack jail. I admired her for going but then she tried to get out, so she lost it.

I agree about the Duke lacrosse players. I try to be intellectually interested in their case, but can't stand any of them.

I can't think of anyone else at the moment.

4. I felt it for a moment, literally, when I saw her crying in the cop car ...

she looked like a 14 year old scared girl. Then I remember who it is, and feel nothing. I'd like to think an experience like this will make her a better person - I give 8 months max before she's back to her old self.

I didn't like her before, but I thought that she handled going to jail with class. Contrast to others.

Her stock went way up when she sucked it up and did the time. I suspect that's a pretty universal assessment of public opinion toward her.

9. As my FIL used to say, you'll find sympathy in the dictionary

between "shit" and "syphilis." I have lots of compassion, lots of empathy. I figure it's not my job to discern who's deserving of compassion, so I just try to have it for anyone in trouble. Although I admit, some cases are more challenging than others! I'm not losing any sleep over any of these folks, either.
