Jon Stewart said last night that the Bushies are considering arming the "insurgents" in Iraq to combat Al Qaeda. Of all things.

This kind of thinking is what put us where we are now.

A new face, a Democratic face (and I think we all know who that should be), will change the political dynamic and allow us an out. Hopefully, whoever we elect will take that opportunity.

3. I Think Any Democratic Nominee
will be able to negotiate our way out of this. It just requires willingness to deal with all parties involved.

That is the one silver lining to the war lasting through Jan 2009. The chance that withdrawal can be done without massive casualities in the wake of the US departure. A lot of people here may not agree, but IMO the chance of mass deaths on the scale of a Indo-Pak partition is very very real.

4. I think it's the only way it's going to end.
If a repuke wins in 2008 for some god awful reason we're stuck there, I don't care which of those sycophantic assholes it would be, they wouldn't get us out.

On the other side, I don't care which dem makes it in, I think it would get us out of there. Hopefully minimizing the bloodshed that would follow.
