Re-hashing Lurita and the Malfeasance of the GOP Overseers
The incessant misdirection of the Repukes in hijacking the proceedings in Doan II: Miscarriage of Justice, was more than pathetic. It exemplified the exact wrong behavior that they were attempting to shed light upon.

In chastising the Democrats for pursuing this "witch hunt" and forsaking their obligation to make inquiries into the laundry list of much more pressing concerns :eyes:, Tom "Waterboy" Davis forsakes all legitimacy of his claim. Had they done ANY oversight during their "reign of leisure", we wouldn't have to be so focused on reinstalling ethical checkpoints to curb the GOP duplicity. Excuse me Tommy, but YOUR lack of inquiry is why we are here at this inquiry -- you lard ass POS.

It amazes me that they spent greater than 80 percent of their energies rebuking Democrats during this time, instead of determining if or when Hatch Act violations occurred. THIS is a complete dereliction of duty, and THEY need to be held accountable!

1. I would like to point out...
...that, as infuriating as it is, IT IS EFFECTIVE. Until we realize this, and start figuring out countering tactics, they will continue to wipe the floor with us -- even in the minority (not a very small minority, sadly).

Near the end of the Lurita hearing, the information was elicited indicating that she and the other Republicans had met before the hearing -- it was pretty obvious that it was all a concerted effort. Now I don't have to like it -- and I don't. But they sure know how to stick together, and work together, for a common goal. However egregious that goal may be.

2. That is what is so maddening...
by not countering this behavior -- or at the very least raising objection to it immediately -- we end up enabling it and aiding its effectiveness. I feel like they ran over the committee and got off scot-free (sic).

3. This surprises you?
Most of them, including Davis & Issa, got their campaign contributions as kickbacks from GSA contractors. They're partners with Doan.

11. This is evidently "complicity" in a political conspiracy. The American People
can see right thru this stuff.

The Rs are behaving like this because they are all Gotchees. Hatch Act violations are so widespread, there is no end to the number of e-mails, etc. that are subject to existing subpoenas and requests is that masive net. And, what all will be revealed in all those communications. GSA fraud, etc.

Issa was the guy who released the false info on Carol Lam, then tried to cover his own sorry behind in the USA firings hearing.

Every orchestra has a director. Remember, to stop this music once and for all, you need to indict the director. That takes finesse.

5. MUST SEE: Wow, are the Rs on the defensive like never before, or WHAT?
They really know what deep doodoo the Hatch Act violations are, and are
in a total spin-cycle panic. Why? This goes deep into the White House.

The PowerPoint is astounding. It shows how incumbents (read Bush) do
better in elections during wartime, this in the context of 2008 elections.
I'd say they are sweating "bullets" about this brewing scandal as soldiers die.

This hearing focused on allegations that GSA Administrator Lurita Doan failed to follow proper procedures for awarding federal contracts, attempted to intervene in contract negotiations, and engaged in partisan political activities on federal property.

Hearing and links to documents: http://oversight.house.gov/story.asp?ID=1224

Does anyone have a link to the PowerPoint file in its original format. The Committee link is a large PDF file.

6. Listening online "inelegant truthfulness" is the new GOP talking point. GEEEEZ!!!
Edited on Fri Jun-15-07 11:49 AM by L. Coyote
Who writes the GOP script these days? This is a real duzzie, "..her inelegant truthfulness..."

And now comes another goody. Doan hits her thumb with a hammer as she is trying to break down the Berlin wall. Republican speech writers in suits may not know this, but when breaking down a wall with a hammer, you don't hold the wall like a nail, or if your thumb is on the wall for no reason, you don't aim right next to your thumb and miss the wall!! GEEEEZZZ, do they really think those of us who use hammers are stupid, or are they this stupid?

The next goody is "gotchee." Who's the "Gotchee" on this sore score? The "game of gotcha" speech is misfiring like an R using a hammer.

Q. But, isn't that the Amnesia Button.
A. That's why God gave Rs two buttocks!!

8. A good start might be to investigate some new people
Like Davis, for example. Someone upthread made the point that they were likely getting GSA kickbacks. He'd sure have a hard time screaming witchhunt believably if he were being investigated...

Part of the politization of the USG by Bushco has been directing the money to Loyalists. Who are this guys friends, constituents, etc.

Another strategy was making the money go to Congressional districts in contention, placing at-risk Congressmen in postions that allowed control of money, etc.

There is a lot of ground to cover in investigating the scandal I call: $$ Where do the bucks STOP ??
