Giuliani Signals Support For Second Escalation Of U.S. Forces To Iraq

In an interview this week with Bloomberg TV, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani declard that he would consider increasing U.S. troop levels to Iraq, beyond the tens of thousands of soldiers ordered to Iraq in January as part of President Bush’s escalation policy.

Bloomberg host Peter Cook asked Giuliani, “If General Petraeus comes back in September and says, we can win this thing, but it’s going to take more U.S. troops, could you support the notion of adding even more U.S. troops to Iraq?”

Giuliani said he could support escalating Bush’s escalation, provided Petraeus believed he “need more troops to make it work in order to get Iraq to a situation where Iraq is stable.” When Cook noted that many Americans would strongly oppose such a plan, Giuliani said, “Hey, you know, leadership is about sometimes doing the things you know are right.” Watch it:

1. Giuliani and McCain are having a contest of who can appear more right-wing batshit crazy.
I guess they're overcompensating for their past dabbling in the middle of the road.

If they keep sprinting to the right, they might eventually catch up to Joe Lieberman.

2. Where the hell are the troops going to come from? They will end up sending people back for
5,6 or 7 rotations or until they are all killed! I sure am glad I was in Vietnam instead of Iraq!

3. Has either of Giuliani's children enlisted?
I didn't think so. :eyes:

New Rule: Anyone who wants to continue and/or escalate the Iraq war is required to commit at least one child to the cause. You want thousands of Americans to sacrifice their children for this mess? Fine ... but you should be willing to sacrifice your child, too!

4. Giuliani didn't get enough hugs as a child
Neither did Lieberman

I propose a club for politicians who desperately need attention and validation.

They can sit around and hug each other to death.

6. It's a sad day for America when people believe throwing more soldiers into a meat grinder...
... equals "supporting our troops" and "being tough on terrorists".

It's a sad statement about Americans that so many believe it.

10. Roughly 70% of Republicans do.
That's the general stat for Republican support for the war.

7. Tough talk from Rudy? That's about all he's good for. That and
lying to the people of New York about the air quality after 911. Oh I forgot, he sure did know how to make the homeless disappear, the bastard.
