Anti-gay, anti-abortion, anti-atheist, anti-evolution, anti-modern Promise Keepers '07
What kind of action are they planning when not "masculinely participing in music"? Whatever it is, with words like high-impact and energizing men to "action", it sounds pushy, not peaceful.

Promise Keepers '07: Energizing Men for Action
Leading men's organization rebuilds events to equip men in seven cities

Contact: Steve Chavis, 303-964-7790

Denver, Colo., June 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- Promise Keepers (PK), the international ministry to men, launches its 17th season of high-impact men's conferences this month. The seven-event series begins in Mobile, Ala. on June 29.

"This year Promise Keepers is positioned to equip and encourage men in their transformation from promise maker to promise keeper," said Dr. Tom Fortson, Promise Keepers president. "We have located thousands of men around the world who are identified by the word 'integrity,' as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. It's time to equip these men to put integrity into action."

The 2007 conference program targets men's love of adventure, offers them a spiritual challenge, and points them to the fulfillment of their potential. Also this year, Promise Keepers tackles gender relations head-on with a Saturday session called "The Significance of Engaging the Heart of a Woman."

Men's groups around the nation are now organizing bus, van, and motorcycle road trips to Promise Keepers events. "We are excited about helping guys escape their isolation. We know we need other men to help us do what needs to be done and finish life's race well," said Dr. Fortson.

Worship leader Dr. Stephen Newby and the band PK 7 provide energetic and diversemusic that is designed for masculine participation.

2007 CITIES AND DATES

Through arena conferences and audience-specific events, its website and multi-media resources, Promise Keepers encourages and equips men to act on their integrity. Promise Keepers' mission is to make passionate followers of Jesus Christ. Promise Keepers' vision is: "Men Transformed Worldwide."

2. I wonder what the divorce rate for the Promisekeepers is.
I'll wager it's greater than the national average.

7. Here is their "core value" statement on homosexuality, for example:
Promise Keepers shares the same historic stance taken by Evangelicals and Catholics: that sex is a good gift from God to be enjoyed in the context of heterosexual marriage. We believe that the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality violates God's creative design for a husband and a wife and that it is a sin (Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

10. I know a Promise Keeper
He means well (I think), but he has serious problems. He's living on the edge in just about every respect. He constantly goes on and on about God this and God that, and I smile and agree. Of course, he has no idea that I am a lesbian who follows a Pagan Goddess.

14. Thanks. Normally, I'm very "out" about both my lesbian and pagan identities
but this parent is a major force on my son's football team, and I decided that in this one particular case I wouldn't volunteer the info. I still feel sort of guilty about it, though....

15. "masculinely participing in music"
Oooooooooh......

I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay.
I sleep all night. I work all day.

Mounties : He's a lumberjack, and he's okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

Mounties: He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea.

Chorus : I'm (He's) a lumberjack, and I'm (he's) okay.
I (He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.

I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars.

Mounties : He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around in bars?!

Chorus : I'm (He's) a lumberjack, and I'm (he's) okay.
I (He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.

I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie,
Just like my dear Mama (or Papa in later versions)

Mounties : He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!

Chorus : I'm (He's) a lumberjack, and I'm (he's) okay.
I (He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.

Yes, I'm (He's) a lumberjack, and I'm (he's) ok-a-y.
I (He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.

25. Hubby's dad talked him into going to one before we got married.
I was furious. They don't allow any local women pastors, even though all local pastors are invited. At least they didn't at the time. Women pastors have enough discrimination, and I didn't feel that a group obviously devoted to keeping men in power was anything my fiance should go to. He went for his dad, and while he enjoyed spending time with his dad, he didn't like it. He liked some things, but the sports analogies got annoying, apparently.
