Why Do Some Christians Want To Run YOUR Life?

So, over the last several days, I’ve been having conversations with people about Christianity and the nature of religion in general. I’ve heard some really interesting things, most of them quite simply loony, but very interesting.
When it comes right down to it, we can all get together and talk about religion, saying this and that and the other thing, use a bunch of big words and mentally masturbate as to how wonderful we all are, but the fact remains that Christianity is the religion of people that want to run your life for you and it is starting to irritate me.
I want to start off by saying that I am NOT attacking Christians. I am attacking what you DO with your Christianity, not who you are. To put it in terms that Christians will understand, I hate the sin, not the sinner. Which is one of the biggest bunches of hooey in a whole religion full of hooey, but I digress.
People that know me know that I’m a pretty tolerant guy. In general, if you leave me and mine alone, I’ll leave you alone. I don’t like the government, the neighbor or anyone else to have anything to do with how I raise my children, what I read, what I listen to, what I smoke, what I drink or eat, what I do in my bedroom (or with whom for that matter), or anything else that doesn’t harm another living thing. No one has the right to tell me that this or that is bad for me or that if I swear in front of my kid that my kid will turn out bad or that if I listen to rock and roll, I worship the devil. Nobody has the right. No one.
By the same token, I don’t have the right to tell anyone what or who to worship and I certainly don’t have the right to interfere in the daily affairs of other people. If some jackass wants to ride his motorcycle without a helmet, hey, fine by me. I think you’re an idiot, but it is not my responsibility or the responsibility of society to insist that you wear one. But, it is also not my responsibility or the responsibility of society to take care of you when you splatter all over the black top either.
