I'm watching SiCKO
I've never had any love for insurance companies, but if after this movie comes out, Congress does nothing to stop this abuse - every last single one of them need to be dragged out of their offices and thrown in the street. Even the freshmen.

3. Better yet...
They and their families need to be denied their current cadillac health care packages unless and until every singe one of their constituents has an identical single-payer, universal access health care program -- free of charge and paid by a single tax-funded government agency -- including full medical with no deductions; full pharmaceutical with no copays; full vision coverage with no out of pocket costs; and full dental care, with no ridiculous $1500 yearly cap on coverage.

Simple as that. It's the best way I can think of to get their attention, and the only one that actually hits them where they live. Of course, their campaign "contributors" will probably offer to pick up the costs in return for voting to keep the status quo, but that would probably constitute an illegal use of campaign funds and the FEC may be able to bust them on it. Either way, the prospect might scare them enough to vote for such a radical bill and against their pals in for-profit medicine.

Thoughts?

4. the only way that will happen
is if mobs actually threaten or do drag them out into the street.

Of course, this would take a rebellion among our globalist Robocop military industrial protectors of those who would oppress mothers and babies.

6. If they are in the street near me
I will violate my vow of nonviolence. As an uninsured RN of 20 years duration, I have enough rage against those bastards on two separate fronts to hurt them very badly. I will not kill them, but I will make absolutely certain they suffer every indignity the for profit system has managed to heap upon every sick and/or uninsurable person out there in the past 30 years.

Add to them all the defeatist Congressmen over the past 40 years who were afraid somebody would call them socialists if they expanded Medicare the way it was always meant to be expanded from its beginning.

Add Harry and Louise, those two uninsured actors who defeated Hillarycare, a bad plan but at least a baby step to universal health insurance.

Throw in every radio and TV ranter who has been lying over the years about how the French and Canadian systems are run.

I won't see this one. I'm already angrier than I want to be. However, people do need to see it, especially if they think an insurance company cares a fucking thing about getting them well if they get sick.

I agree that if you do enjoy someone else's labor, you should pay for it. That's why I'll buy a ticket for a show online, regardless of whether or not I see that show.

12. I just watched the beginning few minutes.
I will be watching the whole thing tonight. I am steeling myself for the experience. I do not expect entertainment.

Oh, I am just counting the femtoseconds until this thing premeirs. The resultant firestorm, at the Average Joe level is gonna be something. I am expecting a societal shift right up there with The Beatles.

Of course, the pigs who are presently gorging themselves at the healthcare trough will deafen us with their squealing...

13. And that's just one family, that kind of stuff is happening every day
while CEOs of these HMOs have salaries up near the billion/year mark. One guy had 1.6 billion in compensation. How many people would that treat?

Because honestly I don't see anything happening at all. Mostly only people who already agree with it will see it, and the world will go on as always.

15. We watched it and cried
It actually changed my partner's mind about moving to the US. Great movie. However, the French couple MM tried to describe as middle class, who earned 8000 bucks or some such a month and lived in a huge apartment and drove 2 cars? I don't think so.

19. I watched it too and it was incredible. After watching it, my son asked if we could all move
to France! I can work most anywhere, except I need a working post office and the French hold no hostages, Post Office included!

On another note. After word gets out about this film and more and more people see it, Congress is going to have to do a lot of dancing. It's also going to damage Hillary and Rudy's run for the Presidency. Hillary being a huge recipient of Health Insurance companies funds and Rudy for not helping all of the rescue workers from 9/11.

The Cuban segment was stunning!

As to my Freshman Congressman, he is a Progressive and I'm sure he would love to support Universal Health Care.

BTW..I watched the video of Mike saying that he didn't mind his films being downloaded. He just doesn't want anyone to make money off of them. It is important for him to get the info out there. As it stands now, like with Fahrenheit 9/11..which I did see in the theater, I am going to buy the DVD of Sicko when it comes out.

that I have to send a package to, I almost hold my breath until they receive it. I've also had things stolen from envelopes sent to a friend of mine who resides in the South of France.

21. How are the scenes shot in Miami when they're leaving on the boats to Cuba?
I was in the boat with Michael Moore as an extra. I'm not sure if I made the final cut because I haven't seen the movie yet.

helping the 9/11 people onto the boat. THere's also someone in a dark shit and white hat (Panama Jack style) climing into the boat from the side and further up the boat. It's not a long sequence

without violent overthrow.

people will scream about unfairness, the media will do in-depth reports, there might even be a rally or two...but then the next big diversion-of-the-month will come along, and people will forget...
