I sent this to most of the medical insurance corporations like Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare.
Dear Medical Insurance Corporations:
The healthcare issue in the United States has been talked about for quite some time. However, after watching the film
http://www.michaelmoore.com/sicko">SiCKO directed by Michael Moore. I was inspired to write to you and ask a few questions. I wondered how easy is it for you all to sleep at night? Well, I guess even if you had problems sleeping you could all afford prescription medication that would help you get a good night’s rest anyway. Or you probably all prescribe to psychotropic drugs that make you numb to the reality of what you are doing to the American people. In any case you all probably have access to healthcare and medication that millions of people do not have, and worst of all, that you deny to many of them.
All I keep on thinking is that it must be hard to work for corporations like yours. I wonder how you are able to keep on working at these places knowing that many people get sick and die because of your selfish profit maximization practices? You know, where you cut corners which eventually result with people being dumped off on the curbs by hospitals because they can’t afford to pay. Where 79 year old men are forced to take jobs at Pathmark to afford their prescription drugs. Where the first responders of 9/11 can’t even get the proper healthcare and the medication they deserve.
And as for the pharmaceutical corporations they are just as horrible. Pushing drugs that have major side effects and end up doing harm instead of their intended purpose. Not to mention the high prices they charge which force people to go to Canada to get their drugs. There’s also the tax breaks aka corporate welfare that many of you get.
So to the executives of these medical insurance and pharmaceutical corporations who are really the ones to blame. I pose a simple question. Imagine if it was you or your children that were put in the same situation that you put millions of people inside of this country (and outside of this country when concerning Big Pharma) in?
I totally realize that it is universal health coverage that we need and you all that we need to put out of business.
With disgust,
