'When President says "Get Out"..."Get OUT!" Scarborough about Hurricane Season coming up.
Edited on Mon Jun-18-07 07:03 AM by KoKo01
Scarborough has that robot Michael Chertoff on this a.m. talking about whether FEMA is prepared for this year's hurricane season and Scarborough starts going on about Nagan and Blanko being idiots and says people didn't get out of NO for "various reasons" but the President told people to get out on Saturday and when the President says "Get out...GET OUT."

So folks ....when disaster strikes make sure you do what your P-Resident says or you will Drown or be Blown away if you are poor, elderly or have no transportation or no where to get out to. YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING HELP FROM FEMA if you DO NOT HEED YOUR P-RESIDENT.

1. It was an obvious re-write of history, blaming Nagin and Blanco for
the Katrina disaster. Now, if only those folks had listened to their president to evacuate, everything would have been fine. :banghead:

OMG, I hope they don't keep Joe S in this time slot!

2. Hurricanes did not destroy New Orleans or kill its residents
the failed levees, built by the federal government did. I am reminded of T-Shirts for sale on Bourbon Street:

- FEMA Evacuation Plan - RUN MOTHERFUCKER RUN; and

- FEMA - Find Every Mexican Available; and

- FEMA - Federal Expertise My Ass

If we do have another hurricane brewing in the gulf the last thing I will be seeking out is guidance from bush's White House.

3. That would be too obvious for JOE/MIchael to mention....
and that there was no National Guard help because most were in Iraq. No mention of Levee's breaking.

Scarborough and the propaganda machine STILL trying to re-write history. I turned it off after that. It made me sick to hear those lies and the veiled threat from those jokers.

5. The NG was there
but instead of providing any assistance, they sealed the city against any outsiders ready to provide assistance. Don't ever forget that the Guard kept rescue workers sitting on the pavement on I-10 for nearly five days before they would allow anyone into the city.

Why? The FEMA guidelines had been rewritten to reflect FEMA's absorption into DHS. New Orleans was being treated like a biological warfare site! The fact that natural disasters are not contagious went right over Chertoff's cadaverous head.

Lives would have been saved had the NG not been present and under such incredibly stupid orders.

6. I thought it was NO's Police or State Troopers who did that...
Didn't NO's have to bring in Blackwater Contractors because there weren't enough guard or equipment to handle things?

10. The Guard sealed the city
The rest of the vultures were later.

The local sheriffs from surrounding suburbs kept people from leaving the city. The Guard kept rescue workers from getting into it.

12. That's what I recall seeing...People were denied egress from NO
and that had to be one of the stupidest ideas ever. THe next most stupid idea was keeping relief workers OUT of the area!

This was incredibly mismanaged, (as everything is w/this administration), and people died because of said mismanagement. Chertoff is trying to clear what conscience he has by rationalizing the whole thing away.

Nagin and Blanco did not have the means to deal w/the situation, and when volunteers by the thousands showed up to offer food, shelter, blankets, water...(let's not forget the ice that went all over the country), they were turned away, sometimes under direct threat.

By far, a serious black mark on this administration. The Salvation Army and Red Cross were told to "back off"....for God's sake, these people deal w/disasters all of the time, they know how to organize and get things done, yet they were threatened by police! :wtf:

The way the administration and FEMA dealt w/the whole situation is beyond incompetence, it goes all the way to criminal negligence.

4. I have one of those shirts...
- FEMA - Federal Employees Missing Again

I was there gutting houses nine months after Katrina...the difference in the short distance between the French Quarter and the elevated interstates was just astonishing. Cars parked under the interstates pre-Katrina and flooded out still hadn't been towed yet--to say nothing of abandoned neighborhoods. x(

7. I Remember the News during the Hurricane.
There were hundreds of thousands leaving Greater New Orleans. Conga line traffic. Those without cars were left behind. The trains were not allowed to go to NO. WTF.
I really hate this revsionist history shit.
New Orleans flooded due to failed levees.

11. If you are a property owner they can not force you to leave. A mandatory evacuation only means
there will be no government services provided for you.

Best way to prepare physically and mentally is to go into any disaster knowing that no one, government, neighbors, strangers or organizations are not going to do anything to help you.

13. But what if you have $12 in your pocket, and no car?
Edited on Mon Jun-18-07 10:20 AM by SoCalDem
Where exactly DO you go? and people DO have pets...many shelters are "no Pets allowed"..

People are naturally optimists..they always think "they" will be okay, and if they are too poor to actually go anywhere else, many will decide to ride it out and hope for the best..
